I was getting the black screen of "WTF" after selecting a show to watch, time after time after time. I tried multiple routines of deleting cookies, rebooting patterns, using chrome (BLEH), trying the indexedDB thing, nothing worked for me.

What worked for me: opening a window in finder and performing a keyword search of "silverlight." I then deleted everything Silverlight related (which included 5 or 6 silverlight.dmg copies), which uninstalled silverlight. I then launched Safari and logged into my netflix, selected a show to watch, which caused netflix to prompt me that I needed silverlight to play video. So i downloaded it, installed it, and got working netflix video. back to normal. BOOM. I don't know why, but yes, boom.

[doublepost=1456614325][/doublepost]Thanks to sleepscooty33. Removing that silverlight "virus" worked for me.

At first Netflix appeared to run fine but after letting a movie timeout (paused for a long period of time) it now will no longer play a movie. It gives an error with code S7053-1803.

Has anyone else experienced this error? If so, have you found a fix?

I've tried clearing the cache, deleting all local storage including cookies and nothing has worked so far. I've also tried simply restarting hoping it was just something "stuck" but no luck.

Mac OS 10.12. Safari will no longer play Netflix. Chrome works fine.

Have you tried turning it off and on again! ;)

Shame that the fix isn't working for you, let's hope that the techies from Netflix get the issue sorted out as soon as possible.

I called Netflix tech support and they suggested using Chrome with Netflix.
