Take it to the Apple Store to have it fixed... maybe even ask to talk to a manager at the store. Since it is a standard stack machine they can actually just swap it for you.... yes, even though you didnt buy it from apple they can make that exception. otherwise have it fixed. Also, MacMall tends to take out the Apple A++ RAM and put in a lesser quality RAM so maybe that is the issue? I'm sure they can fix it up for you.

Unless they are good with a soldering gun, that isn't the issue. That said, if t's a dud, an Apple store will do an exchange.

UPDATE:

Did a little research....installed flash blocker as a chrome extension and BOOM. No more fan coming on at ALL. I guess I did not realize how many ads are in flash. I don't miss them.

Oh, and another vulnerability found today in flash....flash really does suck something awful.

So, if you are experiencing high fan speed on your air and you have ruled out an application chewing up your cpu, it is most likely flash.

I have the 13 ultimate and I do not have flash installed. I use chrome for flash browsing.

If i watch any flash video AT ALL, the fans will kick up to full speed. Sometimes just browsing will kick them up. Very annoying and nothing I do stops it.

Do I need to open the machine and apply thermal grease:eek:?

I did a small test for CPU usage of flash in safari and chrome.

I watched a 1080p youtube video in safari and was getting on average 30% CPU usage whilst I watched the same clip in Chrome I was getting 3 separate processes each at about 30% which was nearly maxing the CPU

I didnt have time to take it to the Apple store. I did another reset of the SMC and its definitely better. The fans turn up to only 5000 rpm max now. CPU usage is around 30% for youtube. Netflix is still laggy. As of right now its acceptable. If the problem becomes horrible like it was before I'll have to stop by the store. Thanks to everyone who helped.
