I love my iPhone 13 Pro and swore I wasn’t upgrading this year. Unless they brought out a dark purple Pro.

God. Dammit.

I can’t resist deep purples. It was my wedding colour. My first BlackBerry was purple. It was the same colour as this iPhone.

Soooo I guess my husband is inheriting my 13 Pro in Sierra Blue to replace his iPhone 11 Pro.

Why did it have to be that shade of purple.

Not happy about them removing the scum card tray. I use to use that as my excuse to get around the upgrade fee from carriers. Only had to call about it once, asked them how they could justify charging me $35 for an upgrade fee when I was the one who did all the work, and they waived it for me. Haven't been charged one since. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. I think the "dynamic island" will prove useful, more so than I can imagine currently without it, and it does look better, knowing that it has included functionality in it as well, than the notch. Always on display, I liked it when I had the s10+, welcome feature to be added imo, even though years behind when it should of first been offered.

Honestly, I don't know what you expect. How much further can phones really go? I'm sure there is stuff the could of done right now, but they save some stuff for next year, or the year after, so that they can have something new about it. Sure, it sucks for us the consumer in a way, I mean who doesn't want the best of the best yesterday? But in the end, they are a business, and they plan to be a business for a while. They simply can't give us everything we want right now, without taking from their future profits and models.

And there's always the fact that if its not what you want, you don't HAVE to buy it.

Also I like the new Pill. Plus the camera improvements are great too and Sat calling.

NonUS models have sim tray. Calm down. Worst gen was X -> XS.

No one needs 8K video.

For what most people do which is read Macrumors forums, publish selfies to IG, dead scroll through Facebook and Twitter and buffoonery on Tik Tok, upgrading every year is not essential. Its like there are people caught up in the PTSD of 2007 to 2014 when upgrading every year delivered significant innovation:

- 3G
- App Store/Video recording
- Facetime/Retina Display
- 4G/LTE
- Larger screen

News flash, the low hanging fruit hanging fruit has been picked. The iPhone likely peaked at iPhone 6. The exception was the X due to its symbolic nature being the 10th anniversary of the device and the introduction of a new design form factor. But everything pretty much since iPhone 6s has been iterative.

I voted no, but it's all just opinions, so sure, if that’s now you feel.

For me I’d say it’s the 4th worst.

1. iPhone 7 - no headphone jack - the single most consumer-hostile, greedy and stupid change Apple has ever made to the iPhone.
2. iPhone 6 - A worse design than the 5/5S (itself worse than the 4/4S), stupidly large device caused by copying big android phones. It was when it felt to me like Apple went from mostly leading innovative smartphone design and features to mostly following them.
3. iPhone X - the stupid compromise that is the notch, the removal of TouchID for the (IMHO) inferior FaceID

4. iPhone 14 - no new mini, kinda boring, awful colours on the non-pro models, removal of the SIM tray in the US

I would still say Apple hasn‘t made an outright bad iPhone, the ‘worst’ thing about the 14 series it’s just a bit boring, and the others I mentioned I personally found disappointing for the reasons stated. I understand others may completely disagree, and that fine.

First Gen SE is the GOAT iPhone for me, probably followed by the 4S (I never actually owned the 4S but my 4 was close). Happy enough with iPhone Mini 13 for now, I am glad I don’t have to get a new iPhone this year, I would find it difficult to be as enthusiastic about it as I have been previously.

the pro is actually probably the best out of all the pro models. The camera alone would have been crazy, but the always on and the island really set it apart. Feels like another iPhone X moment.

Same as some people above, the biggest disappointments for me have been with their laptops, taking magsafe and ports off the MacBook Pros (and ruining the keyboard) then having the cheek when they put them back to try and tell us what a great favour they're doing us.

That and the removal of headphone jacks - really loathe the lack of one on my iPhone.

The iPhone 14 launch has met my expectations but then I was not expecting much. Each new phone these days is iteration not innovation.

What took you so long to start this - I predicted this yesterday and expected this 5 min after announcement. I actually think there were a lot more enhancements in this than a bunch of years

I’m not even sure what the pricing is in Europe, and I already think it’s insane in the United States. Especially since these things are only supported for A few years, and don’t last even that long because they use sealed batteries 😡
A few as in… six? Seven?

So a few fews?

Already, how is this thread possible after it was just announced. You don't even have it in your hands to know besides some specs. And you most likely will buy it anyway..... drama much...

OP what phone are you on now? If you got a 13pro/13PM then the 14 series could feel underwhelming. If you’re on older phone, situation is different. I know a few people upgrading to 14pro who are still on iPhone X. That would be a huge upgrade.

In Germany it’s 1299€ for the Pro and 1449€ for the Pro Max, 1579€ for 256GB (1€=1$)… it’s sick. maybe I should consider a refurb 13pro max (but the camera on the 14 pro! The dynamic island🏝!!!😄) Or stick with my 11 pro max a little longer… (lame!)

I really like it too, and I’m not a super big fan of purple. In fact, I almost always go with the silver/white. This is very tempting.

They REMOVED features
Oh I’m sorry but you JUST REALISE IT? LOL
I’m mostly disappointed by the price. I don’t know. If they cut prices by $100 to match what they used to be, or really 130, and the plus model started out no more than 700, I’d be impressed. Actually even that is higher than they used to be.
I’m actually surprised Australia price remains almost the same for iPhone 14 Pro Max. Simplifies my budget Management a bit.

Apple kept the same price during a year of record inflation and added a whole bunch of features.
Except that last year they raised the price by $100 and caused inflation o_O

After watching YouTube videos of the event, it felt like a combination of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus [iPhone 14 and 14 Plus] and iPhone Xs and Xs Max [iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max]

Or more like iPhone 5c [A15] and iPhone 5s [A16]

Waiting for battery capacity to be known... I may buy in the future but for now I'm happy with iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 Plus...

I think it’s relative to one’s needs and expectations.

Back pre-lightning, even S upgrades were significant and exciting. Now it feels as if Apple’s in a tick tock tock trend and the 13 and 14 are just S models. Yeah, there are some new features but same design basically and nothing amazing like Touch ID or True Tone flash.

For me, I just can’t justify myself dropping that much money to upgrade from my 11 Pro. And I’m making more now than ever. The only issue I’m having with my current iPhone is I’m way out of onboard storage. The speakers have gone out but I’ll get AppleCare to sort them.

I would agree with OP if the lineup was just iPhones 14 without iPhones 14 Pro.

iPhones 14 Pro are just as much of an upgrade as previous years have been in all key areas.

On another note. I find it funny how in previous years a lot were complaining about iPhones Pro not being enough of a step up from standard to warrant the higher prices.

Now it does and for once the whole "Pro" naming is actually warranted.

I also find this type of outrage hilarious as we've been aware of this lineup for many months and next to none of it is a surprise.

Only surprise for me was seeing no price hikes in the U.S. and removal of the physical SIM tray.

Agree.

I also don't understand what kind of innovation Apple is supposed to bring to something that has become as utilitarian as smartphones? And year after year?

Yes, Apple could do foldable displays. And could upgrade SoC even more every single year.

But to what end? Are completely new designs practical? Is Apple lagging behind with speeds compared to the competition on any of the smartphones from the last 2-3 years?

The big "issue" is not that Apple isn't doing anything exciting anymore but that smartphone tech has reach a peak and the competition isn't giving them any reasons to "go all out" to impress consumers.

I’m not going to diss the new iPhone 14 as it is what it is. However what I am personally going to do is buy an iPhone 13 pro while I still can as I can’t justify a £200 increase/premium.
