New 12.9" worth it over last years model?

In your opinion- is this years model a worthy upgrade if you own the 2015 iPad Pro 12.9"?

I got the 10.5 and barely wanna use my 12.9 anymore because of this GORGEOUS screen @120hz. THe 10.5 is great, but still, sometimes I'd love to have the bigger screen, when I really cant bring my laptop, mainly for splitscreen.

Anyone's gonna upgrade?

Actually I really like to have a more portable solution, the 12,9 has always been a big too heavy for my taste, but now I'm spoilt and love the screen estate. I imagine with iOS 11 it's gonna be amazing!

I mean now you have the best of both worlds, although depending on your work flow might appreciate having the A10X power on the 12.9inch canvas

I never understood the to heavy issue or to big. The 12.9 is 1.5 pounds, that's to much weight to hold? To big to carry around? I haven't found that to be the case. The big screen makes the experience so much better imo. Yes, it's worth the upgrade on many levels.

Well I know how heavy and big it is. Yes - you can carry it around, true. But it feels more like carrying a laptop than a tablet. I'm not sure if it would make sense to own both models or send the 10.5 back and just get a new 12.9... but I love the new portability of the small one... ahhh

It is much heavier. I downgraded to the 10.5 and the weight is incredibly noticeable. Portability even more so.

Yes!! I wanna sell the 12.9 and see how well I can get along just with the 10.5 - but am torn wether to keep the 12.9 until I can try iOS 11 on it, to compare it. But I'm afraid to loose too much value if I wait too long.

I did, but it ultimately came down to the increase in storage and the screen. From a practical standpoint, there doesn't seem to be much out there that can take advantage of the additional power of the A10X at the moment. I suspect that may change with iOS 11, but that's pure speculation.

But that Screen! When I purchased the new one, I thought I was upgrading for the A10X but I certainly ended up thinking the new screen tech was the most noticeable upgrade. I couldn't believe how much of a difference there was between the two. As much as I like the 120hz, I think the trutone may be even more useful.

So, consider how you use your current 12.9 and decide how much the new features are worth. I was able to sell my 12.9 for a pretty good price, so I didn't regret the upgrade.

No need to wait. throw the ios 11 beta on there and try it a few days. Just download the developer profile online. Search google. You don't need a developer account to get it.

Honestly, I wasn't going to upgrade from my 1st gen 12.9, then I read all the specs, reviews, and other chatter about the new pads, and decided to go for it. I then struggled with whether to downsize (for more portability factor only), but ultimately decided I couldn't give up my screen size. I got the new 12.9 and I LOVE it!

For me, my iPP is my only "computer." I gave up my iMac early last year after purchasing my 1st gen 12.9. I'm a Disney travel agent and work from home, so I use my iPad for all that in addition to my general consumption/games, etc. I cannot imagine not having the 12.9, and am so glad I decided to go ahead with the upgrade. What ultimately made me decide was the additional power that will likely make all the new upgrades in the fall run more smoothly. That and the improved pencil support. Of course I didn't realize how much I would LOVE the true tone; the screen is beautiful!

I know my 12.9 would've likely been just fine, but this was a good time for me to sell since my other pro was only going to get less valuable as time passed, and now I have something I can enjoy working with even more.

I feel you haha. In your case it sounds absolutely reasonable, if this 12.9 is your only computer. I also have a 13" MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro at home with two 27" displays, so it's quite less reasonable to own TWO tablets on top of that haha.

Totally worth it for me

The smoothest is clear. True tone also is a nice feature. The brighter display is noticeable outside in the sun for example.

I'm that happy with it I'm selling my MacBook and iPad Pro 9.7 together.

Personally, I think the 12.9 is too small.

For many 12.9 owners (no, not all) then their Big iPad stays home and is often used on a stand or a table. So, if thats the case then why not make it even bigger? Especially with the iOS11 features, I wouldnt mind a 15” (or bigger!) iPad for home use and a 10.5 for carrying around.

The Pro 9.7 and 10.5 fit in my purses. The Pro 12.9 would not. With built-in LTE, I do bring my iPad everywhere. Would prefer the iPad mini but I do kinda want at least A9 minimum.

That said, I bought the Pro 12.9 this year. Been itching to get one for months now and it's nice to have all the upgrades. I'll probably keep the Pro 9.7 as my portable tablet this year (was really hoping 10.5 would get 2732*2048 resolution). The Pro 12.9 will be for home and office.

This is one of the few very good reasons to go with the smaller version. The "it's too big or heavy" is just silly compared to what most people carry around. If you have a specific need for the smaller version like you have then great, otherwise the 12.9 with the extra screen space can't be beat.
