There seem to be a lot of people on this thread that don’t understand that it’s the Emoji Consortium, not Apple, that decides what new Emojis to add each year. Sure, Apple has an influence as a member of the consortium, but they are just one of dozens of companies involved.

So quit with your misinformed “Tim Cook SJW” crap. Whether you love or hate the current state of the emoji, Apple and Tim Cook are not the ones responsible for this.

I’d just like for them to update the Peruvian flag to actually have the coat of arms in the middle. If they could fit Mexico’s eagle in the middle of theirs, they can fit the coat of arms in the Peruvian flag.

Personally I think emojis are too hard to use, there’s so many that they’re hard to find and the problem is that the consortium keeps adding more and as they do people will demand more. Emojis should be simple human based ways to convey emotion in my opinion, preferably genderless but that’s hard to do without them looking male. I’m fine with the skin tone options as that’s more of a hidden feature of some sort and doesn’t get in the way of the picker.

Something needs to change in regards to the picker though

Please let this madness end.

Normally I’d be right with you ... but if I’m being completely honest on a deeper level THANK you Apple!

Thank you Apple for finally pushing and recognizing those with disabilities to be represented Oman. Short hand way. Considering many of your staff have these adjusted lives.

Ona personal level ... thank you Apple for recognizing me and the many times being in mixed relationships (going against the old Hollywood Hays Code)!

I’ve been living the Jungle Fever for a long time and it’s not least been pleasant in society form various cultures.

EDIT : thank you to the Consortium (I stand corrected; directly below)

If Apple spent 1% of the time and resources that they spend on these miserable emojis and dedicated it to squashing bugs in OS X and it's associated apps (FTFF, Preview etc.) the world would be a very much better place...

I’m what big in Preview have you been experiencing. Of the infrequent times I’ve used OS X on: Quicksilver, Ti_Book G4, MBA, Mac Mini, MBP since PUMA I’ve not seen an issue not ever.

For everyone complaining about time wasted on creating emoji.

It's a job for someone. He/she made some new shade of human with whatever hair and two other nonsense emoji I'll never use. But they got paid for it, and then paid their rent. Or bought dinner.

“Gay” and “deaf” is hate speech vocabulary. Seems like you skipped your newspeak lessons.

Ok but I’m actually gay (and quite liberal), am I allowed to use the word “gay”? Or am I offending myself? It’s comments like these that make our side look bad. Everyone needs to lighten up.

The SJW CEO Tim Cook made a big mistake by bringing skin color into emojis. …

It’s disappointing and inappropriate that Tim Cook is using Apple to try and further his SJW agenda. If he is trying to lessen racism by doing so, he has failed and only served to increase it with the inclusion of race-conscious emojis.
Would you please point out in the article where it says that Tim Cook and/or Apple suggested these changes?

Oh, you can’t?

Could it be that this is because it's not Tim Cook and/or Apple that proposes and creates emojis? Could it be that there is a consortium with dozens of members who do that, of which Apple might be a member but only has one vote?

If you have a look, there are now actually plenty of Emoji there to express right wings views if you use your imagination.

The extreme number of the little things might approach the complexity of Chinese soon but I don't often move outside my favourites list unless a new batch come in.

Question? Would a Kangaroo Emoji go in the animal, food or road section?

Let’s just make an emoji for every single material thing and replace the English language :D

Egyptians did a similar thing thousands for years ago! If it enables us to achieve cultural and architectural greatness like them - lets go!

Im all for that - but wasn’t the yellow skinned round face not genderless enough? Did the Chinese feel upset?

This isn't Apple but the unicode consortium? Don't people read before spouting off?

QFFT! You can guess what the second "F" stands for.

Seriously, there are about 5 different facial expression ones and a thumbs up that I and others I know use, that is it. Where is the demand for this crap coming from? Who in life for instance has ever used the football or pizza slice in Microsoft Messenger that has been around for decades??

If they were even used, I would have to spend more time deciphering them. It's like when people started using txt spk m8. Urrrgh!!

The SJW CEO Tim Cook made a big mistake by bringing skin color into emojis. The original lemon-yellow emoji faces existed because no human has lemon-yellow skin, and thus all humans can be represented by lemon-yellow emojis in a neutral and non-racist way.

Including skin color in emojis just spreads this diseased practice of American race-consciousness all over the world.

Now, with these varied skin color emojis, people can use those emojis to make racist jokes and comments. Back when there were only lemon yellow-colored emoji faces, those lemon yellow-colored emoji faces couldn’t be used for racist jokes and comments.

It’s disappointing and inappropriate that Tim Cook is using Apple to try and further his SJW agenda. If he is trying to lessen racism by doing so, he has failed and only served to increase it with the inclusion of race-conscious emojis.

A lot of extrapolation from emojis. Lol

How are the words gay and deaf hate speech?

Unless you’re being sarcastic. I can’t tell anymore on here.

Yes. He is just being the typical bitter, salty edgyboi on the internet, upset there are others who are different than him in the world.

I'd like to see the Emoji Consortium take a break from adding new emojis and spend some time working with the big players (e.g. Apple, Samsung) on coming up with a more efficient way of categorising/accessing them.

Yes! There are less the 10 emojis that I use on a regular basis simply because finding the one I would want is just too much of a pain in the butt.

This. Many people have no clue before they spit their hateful nonsense. If only they have read http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr51/#Diversity
