...IF Apple decided to cut their enormous margin. Else my guess is it will start from at least 2X that guess and probably a bit more. I see no scenario with a normal priced ASD with stand option is about $2K and a M5MAX 6K iMac 32" is $2399 without Apple literally giving the latter away as charity (little-to-no margin).

To all who keep imagining this super-sized new iMac being "starting at..." priced like the old 27" iMac PLUS a little more for 32" screen, let me once again remind all what an iMac PRO was "starting at..." priced many years ago...

full

That was about 7 years ago. Apply some of that "inflation" we readily sling to rationalize price hikes ever since. Apply some "supply chain" excuses. Even apply some "Covid" effects. Is Silicon not far superior to 7-year-old Xeons? Is this rumored screen not bigger than 27"? Is Silicon graphics not better than 7-year-old Vega? Is magical Apple RAM not better than 32GB ECC? Is Thunderbolt 4/5 not better than 3? If all of that could be spun at that price all those years ago, how much higher will the "starting at..." price for the new one go?

Let me also remind people what Apple already charges for a fairly old 6K screen in 2024... and its stand sold separately... neither of which comes with a Mac inside + Keyboard + Mouse.

If this new iMac is going to have a PRO and MAX chip inside, it IS going to be tagged iMac Pro. We can readily see how Apple has already "starting at..." priced an iMac Pro(fit) long ago... and it was only a 5K 27" screen. I see no possible path to $2399... nor even $2999... nor probably even $3999.

First, I want to say I don’t think any of this is actually going to happen. I think Apple has made the iMac an entry-level only machine.

In the event that I’m wrong (wouldn’t be the first time) I’m inclined to agree that the price would be significantly higher than 2500 or
2800. That said, what possible >could< happen would be a couple of things to bring down the price.

The 6k XDR display is a niche product, and the technology hasn’t changed since its original release. I’m confident that because of economies of scale and the already paid-for R and D, a new 6k display with a broader appeal could be made for much less. It’s one of those frustrating things that apple refuses to lower prices even when the technology of an item is far from cutting edge.

We’re also coming up on the 5th gen of apple silicon, and I would hope that production lines and designs are getting streamlined.

So all that to say, maybe Apple >could< make a 3k super iMac, but I doubt it!

Calm down, i wanted to type $3399, fixed it. Thank you
For a 32” iMac Pro with Retina display and a higher level M chip (Max or Ultra), I think your estimate is still off by a factor on nearly two. $6999 to $7999. And by the time, you outfit it with all the bells and whistles and options I would not be surprised if it ended up above $10K

I think the Mac Pro Is barely marketable at these levels. I just can’t see Apple releasing a companion iMac Pro model

Still hoping for an iMac 32" to replace my 2013 model (which still works, by the way.. albeit a lot slower than my 2023 MacAir).

I am in exactly the same boat (2013 iMac).

have you upgraded the hard drive to an SSD? It made a big difference for me so I would recommend doing it! No need to open it up either - I just use an external one (bit annoying having it on the desk, but it's worth it for the speed improvement!).

AIO computers will never be a configuration I choose. What I wish for is a nano-texture 32" Studio display, and maybe work on a new iMac will also drive a 32" Studio.

Sounds great but many have reminded us of the fact that with Apple Silicon, upgrading a computer means new computer. You can add external storage but not RAM or video card or the SOOC, so if you want to upgrade the computer, you're buying a new monitor, like it or not!

Which is why All-In-One (AIO) computers are a bad deal, and not just Apple. With an AIO if a display fails or you want to change your display you need to get a whole new AIO setup. With an AIO if a computer fails or you want to upgrade your computer you need to get a whole new AIO setup.

A Studio or a Mini plus an external display are much more versatile. Plus one has a zillion display choices to suit individual needs.

32" iMac?

Might arrive next year.
Could be labeled as an "iMac Pro".
If so, will probably be quite expensive...

No I don't believe it ever will. Apple's Mac sales are something like 50% Macbook Pro, 40% Air, Mac Mini 5%, and iMac was like 1%, and the rest was Mac Studio and Mac Pro. They've figured out they can sell two things instead of one with the Studio Display and any desktop Mac.

The 27 inch iMac was enticing because desktop computers used to have the more powerful CPU and GPU. But since Apple Silicon was revealed, they are literally the same SOC in every computer whether laptop or desktop, and the laptops have been getting the more powerful CPUs save for the Mac Studio.

32-inch iMac Pro? I can't think of one single Mac have no retina display in the past 10 years. So, it has to be a retina display. 32 inch retina display = 6k resolution. If they call it pro, that means it will come with a M4/M5 Pro chip at the minimum if not a Max chip. I can't see the price will be cheaper than $5000 if not $6000 as a starting point. For this amount of money you can't even use this 32 inch monitor as a standalone which is WAY overprice.

For those who is waiting for the bigger iMac , forget about it. Just move on. Due to the retina display requirement, this thing won't be cheap. And they won't make another 27 inch because that will kill their 24 inch iMac.

What is the point? If a mini with an M4 chip is going to cost around the same as what an M2 Pro costs (I paid £1300 for mine), what is having that inside a 6K 32" display going to cost? The £5K starting price for an 8-core Intel iMac Pro was way too much in the first place! Apple market a 27" Studio Display for £1500. A 6K 32" screen using today's tech should cost £3k maximum. For an all-in-one, if the computer or the screen go kaput, you're looking at a total brick on your desk. I pleaded for a direct replacement for my 5k iMac when I heard that the M1 was coming out. And I was EXTREMELY disappointed when the 24" came out. My only other option was a Studio Display and a Max Studio, which was WAY MORE than what I paid for my 27" iMac. Then the mini Pro came out and that eased the blow considerably and made swallowing the cost of a Studio DIsplay a bit easier. It became very quickly apparent that a two-box option is way more preferable and flexible. I'd pass, I think...

Yes. They have been crystal clear—they even officially said they are not making the 27" iMac anymore. If they make a 32" display, it won't be in an iMac—it will be a new 32" display they sell seperately.

There are no market forces that make it plausible they would do this.

We keep talking about it because people wish it were true, but it is not happening.
The same people were saying that nobody wanted a Mac Book Pro larger than 15”, and when the 16” Models came out, especially with Apple Silicon, it sold like gangbusters. If I wanted a Mac Studio or Mac Mini, with a Studio Display, I would have never bought a 27” iMac, and I’m not interested in Separates, Cables everywhere, I selected the iMac for it’s sleek, powerful, clean appearance and Top Notch performance with a Gorgeous Screen. I have a 2020 27” i9, upgraded to 64 GB of RAM, Nano-Texture Screen, and a 8TB SSD, and NO 24” iMac or a Mac Studio is better for me. I don’t have speed issues ,yet, so I’ll wait to see if they release a 30-35” Model, but I bought it in December 2022, so I still have Apple Care + coverage. Supposedly, Apple’s research showed that nobody needed or. Wanted anything larger than 15” models, and similarly for Ports being restored, and the Sales haven’t caught up to the M1 Max and Ultra Models since, because we know that we don’t really need a M2 or M3, with the overwhelming Speed boost going from Intel to M-Series Chips. You don’t know what us Customers prefer, or what we will buy when available, instead of. Trying to force products on the Customer. Supposedly Big iPhones weren’t wanted, until the 6S model came out, and sales exploded.
