Hello there

I use my AirPods Pro everyday when I do my 17km little promenade.

I’m considering changing them but I’m more interested in what Apple announced about improved ANC.

I remember a while back I felt the ANC was working well but after an firmware update, I felt that the sound was not blocked as good as before. Maybe it was just a placebo effect.

So fast forward today, do we have already reviews or opinions on the improved ANC?

I tend to buy them but try ANC performance before.

Anyone looking forward for this improvement?

hopefully they finally fixed the microphone for the AirPods pro that it won't pick up all the background noised during a call and amplify them
It would be nice if they applied the ANC to the microphone. That would block external noise and let your voice sound more clear.

2x is a bold claim, we shall see. I'm willing to try them.

AirPods Pro v1 aged badly, along with rattles etc the ANC notably degraded over time. I got warranty replacements for the rattle and the ANC was waaaaay better than those they replaced.

When I bought AirPods Pro noice cancelation was great but after some update it was bad and never was it as before. So I am suspicious Apple did this on purpose.

Yes, they did. There were a lot of complaints early on from people who felt like their ears were full of water when using the ANC settings that the first batch of APPs shipped with. Some months later, Apple shipped an update that mentioned reducing feelings of discomfort. The downside was that doing so reduced the amount of noise reduction. 😞

My biggest complaint about the current Pros - If I am on a call and open a bag, get ice from an icemaker, etc. it 100% of the time causes the person on the other to ask WTF.
this is the only reason i use discord with my friends, Krisp noise cancellation should be the normal standard for any communication app unfortunately it isnt. i think they might be developing an app that could work with other apps but im not sure

I don't think it was a placebo effect, I think it was something in that firmware update. A friend and I both noticed the change around the same time, then I came here and saw that a firmware update had been pushed. Checking back with that friend, we'd both gotten the updated firmware.

Personally I'm really looking forward to better ANC. Even though the original Pros aren't as good as they were when new, they're still pretty good.

I'm also hoping the microphones are somewhat more optimized for voice and not the surrounding noise. I tend to forget about that problem, then I go fill a water bottle while on the phone and people ask if I'm using the restroom. Thanks, Apple.

Yes, that ANC update was developed to address some people’s complaints about their ears feeling “full of water” when using ANC. The result was a less strong noise reduction.

I have a set of over the ears Jabra headphones that do spatial noise reduction of the microphones. It uses multiple microphones to determine which sound is your voice and which is coming from the surrounding space. It suppresses the surrounding sound. I have done tests on a call where I’m in a room with a TV and the TV sounds is completely filtered out. That is what I want from APP2.

I have the airpods pro since the first day that Apple sell it and in this months the ANC was awesome, in fact I came to think that I couldn't stand the feeling of blockage, since it was the first time I had that feeling, then after a few days I got used to it.
After a few months the updates began and the ANC never worked the same again, it was easier to put a slider for people to regulate it than to download it for everyone directly.
