Great I can be happy with my older BT keyboard. These new keyboards are kinda slick but also retarded.

these seem like a vast improvement over the previous keyboards.

the old ones are pretty much worthless after 5 months of use. keys become really firm and almost a pain to type on, they're filled with random hairs and dust...

as soon as the bt keyboard is in stores, i'm going to pick one up for sure.

Two other people have mentioned this, but is anyone else pissed off that they changed the F-keys around?! On my pro keyboard, I have expose on Fs 9-11 and Dashboard on F12 and volume and eject buttons are their own keys above the numerical pad. Now they just squished everything in the first 12 F keys. Doesn't this seem like it might clash with other programs like FPSes or Konfabulator?

I don't think the keys are all that bad. I kinda like the Macbook keyboard IMO, but there was no reason to make that change.

Plus it looks like there is only one expose button...WTF?! Are we to scroll now through the different modes?

I'm tempted to get a new wired keyboard. I could do with another usb port. It seems a bit pricey though...

I don't like how they moved around the dashboard, expose, brightness, and volume keys. I am too use to how it is now. Not to mention that the wireless one isn't even a full size keyboard!

i think the new keys really make the whole keyboard clash with the imac. i mean, now that theres no white on the imac, the white keys stand out oddly.
I agree. Either match the aluminum color or match the black border. Don't throw the old color (white) into the mix.

I like how the compact bluetooth keyboard places the main typing area in line with the middle of the screen. Plus, all the PC keyboards have become such desk hogs nowadays, trying to do everything under the sun with shortcut & multimedia buttons, it is refreshing to see something that doesn't take up a lot of room.

I went to the Apple store with 3 goals tonight:

1. Buy iLife '08.

2. Admire the new iMacs.

3. Test the (wired) keyboard to see if I wanted one.

==============

1. They sold out of iLife hours before I got there.

2. There were a gazillion people gathered around the iMacs, playing with them for hours on end. One group of guys shot and edited an entire movie while I was there. They were there when I got there... They were there 45 minutes later when I left.

3. I did, however, get a chance to try out the keyboard. Honestly, I didn't expect to like it, but I really dug it. It felt really good to type on. Low-profile keys that aren't so mushy that you're not sure the key was pressed. Good stuff.

One thing I didn't look into, is how you use the F/Apple shared keys. How exactly do you toggle between volume up and F12, for example?

Oh, and the store told me it would be a few weeks before they were selling them stand-alone.

I think it could be lovely.

I've been looking for ages for a decent bluetooth mini-keyboard. All the ones I could find are maxi sizes.

Yes, me too. Right now on my desk, the keyboard is not centered in front of my Mac because of the numeric keypad. And because of limited space, I cannot ever center the keyboard at all. So the new Bluetooth keyboard is nice. Also, when holding the new Bluetooth keyboard on my lap, it will now be centered! Right now, there's always the numeric keypad sticking out on the right, or I have to move my whole arms off-center.

Ugh, I recommend passing on the keyboard, in both variants. It sucks, end of story. After spending a few hours on it I retreated back to my Dell BT keyboard, it looks ugly, but at least it is nice to type on.

I have also noticed the wired keyboard comes with 2 USB2.0 ports and the wireless one does not?

this is also affecting my decision on what one to get?

Same as the current/old keyboards as its wireless.

I think what i meant to say was, that there is the added benefit of having 2 USB ports with the wired keyboard plus the numeric keypad and it's £20 cheaper than the wireless, so I guess its a no brainer?!

When I first got my Macbook, I really did not like the key layout. It was awkward and tough to get used to. However, when I started using it more, I began to like it. Now, I type much faster on my Macbook than I do on any other keyboard. I am so happy that the new ones are out. I must admit, I wanted the wireless version to have the 10 key. My wife uses the 10 key a lot so I have no choice but to get the wired version. I guess I’ll but my white BT keyboard on Craigslist once I get the new one. Just my 2cents.

well how would USB 2.0 work wirelessly?:confused:

There is a few wireless USB hubs out there - one by Belkin for example. Not sure if it is Bluetooth or another RF it operates on though.

I'm sure we'll eventually see bluetooth USB hubs.

I don't like that they changed the order of the keys (volume, dashboard, etc).

I also would like a full size wireless keyboard.
