Does anybody in the UK know if there are any plans to bring an Apple store to Liverpool?

The previously rumored new store in the Liverpool One mall is now recruiting staff on Apple's website. This is the first official confirmation of this store and will make 18 confirmed UK locations (12 already open, 6 pending.) If the normal timeframe from the beginning of recruitment to opening plays out in this case, a late spring or summer opening is likely.

They will be opening in the new Liverpool 1 scheme adam when it open in Spring 2008.

Great news about the Milton Keynes store! It still had the black boards covering the shop last week. I'd like to be there on opening day, but yeuch! I hate that place on Saturdays, especially the ones just before Christmas. If you're going by car, get there early as parking spaces run out rapidly.

There are many rumors that a Little Rock, AR and Greenville, SC store are in the near future, but nothing confirmed yet.

Greenville's will open sometime in 2009 Magnolia Park Town Center. It was originally going to be fall of 2008 but has been changed.

Good for Greenville.

Now what about Charleston?

I actually know of a fairly prominent upcoming vacancy on King Street. If I had to guess, Apple is waiting on a couple of specific locations to open up. I suppose the question is whether or not 301 King Street is one which they have their eye on.

Belfast store?

ifoAppleStore is reporting that the new Victoria Square complex will host Ireland's first store.

Another Store, Another Island
November 29th, 2007

Apple is finalizing negotiations with developers to locate a retail store in the Victoria Square complex in Belfast (Ireland), the first store in the country. The store is now assigned space UG5 on the second level of the new 800,000 square-foot set of buildings in city centre that includes 98 shops, residential and office space, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, all converging on a 115-foot dome. Ironically, Apple already has a huge presence in the country, employing thousands in telephone technical support jobs. The complex, between City Hall and the River Lagan, will open in March 2008, but the Apple store will open later in the year.

West 14th store opens 12/07

Thanks, savanahrose and thanks arn for the help with putting this thread back up.

Apple has officially announced the opening of the West 14th Street Store in New York City (meatpacking district) this Friday, December 7th at 6:00 pm and going on until midnight. This is Apple's 3rd high-profile store in Manhattan.

Thanks to ifoAppleStore for pointing us to a fascinating post by engadget about the 14th Street store opening. In it VP of Retail Ron Johnson is quoted as saying,
We asked Ron Johnson, Apple's Senior VP of Retail, about how the growth of Apple into kiosks at other retail establishments such as Best Buy is impacting Apple Retail, and he responded that there's "plenty of room" for both, since Apple just had its best quarter ever in Mac sales and at Apple Stores simultaneously. He did say the ratio of new stores is going to move a bit more in the international direction, since there's a lot of room to grow there.

It makes a lot of sense for Apple to go in this direction, and ifo continues along this theme with the following:
His remark comes on the heels of an interview with mall developer Carlos Jereissati Filho, who said two Apple-built stores will open in Sao Paulo (Brazil), with the first opening this month at the Shopping Iguatemi mall. The second store will open in 2008 in the Shopping Marketplace mall. Next, tipsters report that Apple is now negotiating with Reichmann International for space in the Torre Mayor office complex in Mexico City. It’s the tallest building in the city and include 33,300 square-feet of ground floor retail space, where Apple may eventually locate. Lastly, there are three new stores planned for the UK, at the huge Westfield London mall opening in late 2008 northwest of that city, in the Covent Garden district of London, and another in an unverified northern city.
Other than Johnson's remarks there is no confirmation as of yet by Apple on this.

When is the Reading, Berkshire store going to open?
No word yet.

New Manhattan store

From the New York Post:

APPLE OF UPPER W. SIDE'S EYE
By LOIS WEISS

December 19, 2007 -- Upper West Siders will soon have an ultra-hip tech mecca of their own.
The Post has learned that Apple is erecting another monument to iPod, Mac and iPhone addicts on the northwest corner of Broadway and 67th Street.
Displacing a Victoria's Secret shop, the proposed Apple Store follows behind locations in SoHo, the Meatpacking District and the flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Midtown.
Sources say Apple plans to put up a new building - which has architecture-buffs wondering if one of Apple's trademark glass designs is on the drawing board.
And just like Apple's previous locations, the Upper West Side store should have ample floor space and plenty of hidden nooks-and-crannies for hipsters to hang out, work on their novels - and of course, hook-up.
