Why is the magnetic band attachment system getting any credibility? I give that zero chance. No benefit to water resistance or space savings, only the chance for greater theft off worn wrists.

I'll wait for the re-designed version (supposedly) next year and see if a reasonably priced model can even get 48 full hours of use before needing a charge.

I'll be picking up an iPhone 15 before then, AND the Vivoactive 4 will need replacing.

But, UNTIL then, back to the Garmin, cuz value not Barbie Chic.

I suspect most of the buyers of the darker version (if there is one) will be the same couch slugs who can’t run the length of themselves but still moan about the Ultra’s battery life. Those of us who actually run gear hard will likely avoid it because it’ll get so obviously banged up.

Might want to look into real world results people have had with the space black titanium models before you assume poor durability of a DLC coating on titanium - the exterior of my SBTi Series 6 was mint condition a couple months ago when I swapped it out due to battery replacement. I'm constantly working DIY projects around the yard, house, garage, and vehicles rather than sitting on a sofa. (distance cycling and running aren't really contact sports, so...)

They are when you're doing a 35km SwimRun event where you're crawling along cliff edges and swimming between islands in a chain in the north of New Zealand. They're also a contact sport when you're making 3m drops off slatted ramps in the redwoods and eat it on the run out. I banged the **** out of a DLC coated watch navigating a ship, and I have spent a great many years being trained to be very meticulous about equipment care. It's a vanity option, and that's ok - but I guarantee there'll be complaints about it scratching easily. Bet on it.

You sound very proud of yourself yet oddly angry at the same time. Curious.

I’ll note that crawling cliff edges isn’t running, and crashing off 3m slatted ramps isn’t distance cycling. Also not really sure how navigating a ship is a contact sport unless those charts and compass/sextants are fighting back, but good for ya on that achievement too. ⭐️

Time will tell whether your assessment of the complaints is correct. While no device will survive true abuse unscathed, if Apple retains the durability they had on the prior DLC finishes I think the reality will be less than you think. We shall see.

I know you don’t see the relevance, but had you done it, you would. As for the compass and sextant, warships aren’t delicate environments.

Fingers crossed..

No way we'll get a notch. Fingers crossed for an island though :p.
