My MBP 2.4 2 gb has a grey streak running thru the menu bar. Anyone else got this?

My 17" Powerbook has the grey streak- I think it is the design and skin of the menu bar, not any flaw in your screen. It cuts right through the middle of the menu bar right? About 1/16" in size, straight across....

He could just move the dock to be sure right? Or are we talking about the menu bar at the top?

Yeah, it's part of the design of the menu bar. It's supposed to give it a glossy effect, essentially.

Just opened my 2.2 BTO....1 stuck or dead red pixel near the center of the screen. I knew I should not have gone with the 160 GB custom HDD. Bah, I guess I should just suck it up and ignore it.

1 on the top left, luckily not annoying and very hard to see.

Yeah myne is in the bottom right hand corner and IMO it's not even noticeable unless I look for it or let it annoy me. At first I was really angry and opted to call apple and pitch and huge fit about it, but once I decided I would live with it it doesn't even bother me. But I guess if it were in the center of the screen that might be a different story.

With over a million pixels on the screen it's very hard to make everyone perfect, though I have rarely seen this problem with any LCD TV, which I sell a lot of them working at best buy, which kinda makes me wonder.

You have to remember that there are usually a lot less (and much bigger) pixels on LCD TVs; most LCD TVs on the market (including 40''+) have a resolution of 1366x768, while the 15'' MPB has a resolution of 1440x900. So, dead pixels on a TV would be more visible (and annoying). I guess that because of this, quality control is much more tight in TVs.

I don't know, why not call Apple and see about an exchange though? Seems like other people have been able to get Apple to fix it over the phone.

And you could certainly make an argument that a red stuck pixel in the center of the screen is more of a problem than some other possibilities, that it might interfere with using it (who knows, say you use it heavily for photography, Photoshop, etc.).

Has anyone actually had succeed exchanging a BTO because of a dead pixel? I didn't think so... maybe I'm wrong though.

I am not sure. I could try, but I hate harassing them to replace it...I think I can live with it...just annoying that it is near the center top right where my eyes look.

There is a chance could be stuck since it is red, correct?

I will try to run pixel fixer for awhile.

None!

Absolutely no stuck or dead pixels on my SR MBP. This is a non-LD 17" with high-res display.

I have one dodgy pixel on my new replacement MBP.

It looks greyish-black on a grey background or on the standard blue wallpaper.

If I open a new tab in Safari full screen (i.e. white) then I can't see it. I don't see it on black either.

Is this a dead or a stuck pixel? (I thought stuck ones were stuck on red/green/blue but don't know much about this, having never had one before)

Aren't there some programs you can run to diagnose/fix dodgy pixels?

That's probably dirt. I had that on an older one as well. More crappy QC from china...............

not so lucky here i guess:rolleyes:, avoided the yellow tint issue but 4 tiny tiny white stuck pixels appeared when i load window's xp, i think it's stuck pixels since it only slightly visible in black background but not in other color backgrounds what so ever

for you ppl that went back to exchange your notebooks, if some of you guys bought your MBPs with the free iPod promotion what happen if you cut off the upc code from the MBP box, wonder if the store ppl went super pizzed about that
