My local John Lewis store in Oxford St ,London,have e-mailed me to confirm new stock of I-Macs should be with them within days,the fact they have been out of stock for about 8 weeks on this particular product,suggests this might be the news many people have been waiting for.???????????????.[24"-i-mac}

Without an announcement of an event yet tells me that they might be restocking with the limited iMacs that are in circulation. I'm guesssin March for the updated ones.

Why old iMacs then? And iMac availability is limited now so I can't see why would they even have old models? It takes 1-3 week to get iMac if you order from Apple.com.

Maybe he lied to you or he doesn't know what's going on.

store.apple.com/uk still says ships within 24 hours for all but the top model (but its been like that for a week)

It always say that. If you look at some threads here you'll notice that people who ordered iMac have to wait more than 24 hours. And Apple has told for resellers that iMac availability is limited (so they can't order new ones anymore)

But some rumors are more reliable than others

I'd rate this one as pretty low in reliability

I just decided to wait until August or so to get an iMac. Just find something else to keep yourself occupied until the update. Otherwise, you'll drive yourself insane.

It won't be August, man... the update will have been out for about 4 months then. :p

And then you'll be stuck between the (now next update) current model and mobile Nehalem in late, late Q4.

I'm not saying that it is going to happen this week, but I don't think there will be an event with this release. It's unlikely that the iMac will have a major enough upgrade to merit an event.

Also if you actually have viable info on the release date (salesman BS doesn't qualify) do post in in the general 2009 iMac discussion

These threads make me laugh so much.

OK, there's a chance the iMac will appear on YOUR timetable. It's a small chance, almost null, but a chance. Keep dreaming.

I think this is plausible mostly because the excessive use of question marks makes me this is all very valid.

I just don't get why they are holding up the release. Get the damn thing released already so we can buy them new iMucks lol!

It will come out this Tuesday, how do I know, cause my refurbished iMac that I just ordered will be here Wednesday, that is how my luck is.

I hope that is does come tuesday, the sooner the better, SORRY! :D

Anyone else thought about the date the iLife '09 up to date offer (for £7.95) ends (March 28th, 2009), just a thought?

Why not walk 5 minutes to the Apple Store and ask them? Or are they more tight-lipped than John Lewis? I have been waiting since December for a new iMac
