Yea, but iMac uses high-end mobile technology, eg. 3.06GHz was best mobile CPU available then (correct me if I'm wrong)
It was better than the best mobile CPU available then. The 3.07 GHz was an overclocked version of the existing 2.8 GHz. Basically what I'm saying is that since faster mobile CPUs (and quad-cores) have been released since then, overclocking those CPUs would deliver faster processors than the current iMac CPUs.

Well you could always post the "email" you received and have us pour over it looking for clues as to its authenticity instead of rolling your eyes madly like that.

Before you know it you'll be dislodging floaters…

Shaw Wu ?????

Isn't that the same guy who said Macs were "imminent" in late Jan ??? I'm convinced he's an idiot.

Why the hell would Apple wait for June??? I don't care a **** about one *******'s thinking. We have evidence that new models are coming in Q1 and pushing update to June is something that no-one can understand. 14 months without update WTF??? Secondly, it's too close Snow Leopards release

to wait or not to wait ?

Hi folks, new boy here. been waiting for oh so long to buy a new Imac 24.

John Lewis out of stock...... Oh great now back in stock, only three left though. New model ?... No just the reliable current model back in stock.
is a new model coming ? is it coming soon?. Should I wait or should I start enjoying apple for the first time NOW. Money burning hole in my pocket.... Please advise as I retire in 5 years and want to ditch this HP laptop...

I really suggest to wait, it's been 10 months without update and because most of the stores are out of stock that can only mean one thing, an update soon. Newest RUMORS are suggesting that update will come next week (3rd of March). Very likely that update will be in March

Even though there have been 100´s of threads and rumors like this, they are in general narrowing down all the time. In january it was within a few months, then q1, then a few weeks, now a a week or two. I choose to believe that the collective knowledge and guessing often are quite accurate :)
Yes I like to be an optimist, especially when there´s something I want :D
I´m waiting for the threads that says: Imacs - hours away!!!

:) Everyone says hang in there, it is coming just around the corner. But how good will the one be compared to the current model? is it worth the wait?

Even though there is some doubt as to the actual date, I think it's safe to say that Apple will release a new model prior to your retirement. :p

Depends of your needs. You're from UK, right? We'll see a price raise in UK because of exchange rates so new models will cost ~100£ (?) more, so if current models suits for your needs buy one. It's now 400e cheaper in UK then it's in Finland. If you want to wait few weeks and spend some more for new one, do it!

Here's my gathered about new iMacs release:

When I started looking for iMac, my friend sent me MR's buyer's guide link, in iMac there was "Buy it only if you need it, reaching the end of cycle" and I decided to wait because I had no money for iMac then. Rumors started immediately after new MacBooks, that time it was supposed to come before Christmas, didn't happen.
In December people started to look for MacWorld and gathered their money for iMac. MW was awful, only new 17" MBP. People started to talk about release with iLife '09 in late January. No new releases.
Depression started to fill people and some bought existing model. It's February 25th now, and nothing new yet, no February release as few people guessed. Now it's March what we are looking for.

I wrote this for that everyone can now understand that RUMORS are RUMORS. If we trust for 'em, we would already got new iMac in November/December. That's over 3 months. It can easily be another 3 months, we have nothing to prove that new models are coming in a second.

I'm still guessing/hoping for March release

All I know is if they don't release the new model soon, I'm gonna bust a blood vessel.

Did you actually read that article? They said no such thing. At all.

?

"Apple's premium-pricing model is vulnerable in today's recessionary environment," Seyrafi wrote, citing the example of the company's average selling price, or ASP, of its notebook PCs.

I'm a graphic designer and have been waiting for an update since october  First there was going to be an update in november, then in january, now in march, ... If there won't be any update in march, I'm going to buy a pc again, no doubt. I'm realy tired of waiting. If windows 7 comes out, a pc will be MUCH more value for money then a mac I think.

  • Possible quad-core (2.33/2.67/2.83 GHz), or dual-core speed bump up to ≈3.2 GHz
  • NVIDIA graphics, most likely 9400M/9600M/9800M
  • DDR3 1067 MHz RAM
  • Probable LED displays
  • Probable other improvements, like a HD bump
