G4 iMac didn't have a powerbrick...

G4 iMac had a big base. Are you saying you want a base again, then?

I don't care about the "chin" (not forehead), but I'd like to see it have wheels or tank treads. I'd happily build a ramp off my desk if it meant my iMac could come out to the kitchen and let me know when I get a new message. And with iSight and the integrated mic, it would be able to be aware of its surroundings.

Do this, Apple, and I will buy one the day it comes out. Hell, I'll buy two and make them fight each other. Assuming the DVD drive can be fashioned into a laser gun, which they really should be able to do by now. And the IR receiver can function like a laser-tag thing.

My Dell DVD player has been acting as a laser gun for years; at least that's what I think it is doing since it sure doesn't read DVDs.

Check this out for dumbness a plenty....

I sold my PC to my friend recently in anticipation of a new iMac. I did have a Core Duo one which I sold to my brother, but made a new PC up because I thought the current iMac is getting dated, esp. the GPU.

Anyway, the PC was removed from my room like 2 weeks ago, and my MacBook is only thing I have at the moment.

Seeing the MacBook Pro's updated really set off the anticipation and the sexy mockups of how the iMac might look, so along came Monday with my Credit Card at the ready for some new iMac OS/Vista fun and....

It's now tuesday, and I feel like a turd. :(

That will teach you not to make purchase decisions based on rumors :D

I'm also stuck using "only" a MacBook, with an external display. But besides the fan noise, I'm fine for at least another month. Would sure be sweet to have an iMac now though.

But hey, it's summer. Bad time for getting a new desktop toy anyway. Time to take that MacBook for a walk in the park. :D

I really, REALLY hope they release one soon. I've had money saved up to buy one for a while now. I love the current ones, but I'd like to wait 'til the next revision to see what the new ones have to offer.

so does anyone know why Apple doesn't update their prices more frequently to reflect the change in technology and pricing that occurs in almost a daily basis?

Because

a. Their stuff keeps selling.

b. While they now use Intel, unlike HP, Dell, and all the other PC makers, they don't actually have any direct competition.
