Just took delivery from Apple this morning! Had it delivered at my workplace so obviously had to plonk it on a desk and boot'er up.

Well heck it's a nice looking machine - a lot better in the flesh than on the pictures! The 5K screen is absolutely sensational. The attention to detail with the whole unit from the whole unboxing to powering up just shouts premium - there's nothing about it that visually says "I'm old tech!"

Can't wait to get home from work and have a play. My 32Gb of crucial arrived in the post yesterday as well so perfect timing!

iMac 27" Late 2015 model
i7
512Gb SSD
395X 4Gb
8Gb RAM
Magic Keyboard and Trackpad
Magic Mouse

First impressions are high. :)

Congrats on your new iMac. I bought nearly the same setup last year but went with a fusion drive instead. I replaced a 2006 17" iMac and was impressed with the difference. Let's hope the current generation can last ten years!

Congratulations. I'm going to upgrade my 2007 21.5 iMac this year as well. I wanted to get a new iMac, but now with such a vague sense of when they might come out, may not wait.

Looks really good, congratulations on your new iMac :) can I ask with it being 5K is the quality still good when viewing none 4 or 5K content? I'm waiting until later this year when Apple announce the new iMac updates before pulling the trigger and updating my 2012 iMac but I've wondered for a while now if the 5K screen is still noticeable when viewing other things like documents and general content that isn't 4 or 5K. Hope you enjoy your new iMac :)

The screen is the best I've seen hands down. In my mind there's no degradation of quality watching 1080p or less on this screen. Was just watching linustechtips wan show 1080p at full screen and very clear!

Awesome - I can share in the excitement :) Just changed over from a retina MacBook Pro as I wanted more screen real estate and a big beefier system. Plus, this 5K monitor is just incredible to look at! The performance is more than good enough for my needs as a developer.

i7 4.0
M395x (4GB VRAM)
512GB SSD
16GB ram

Holding out for Apple to do a proper release of a standalone monitor to replace this Thunderbolt Display I have. While not terrible by any stretch, it's "hard" to have such a crisp display on one side of my setup and a slightly less crisp and pixelated screen on the other; big issues I know haha

Great to hear because I don't have 4 or 5K content so upgrading my IMac later in the year would of been a pain if it made other content look crappy. It sounds like you are really happy with it, congratulations on your 5K iMac :)
