I can't help you with the network issue, that's probably an issue with the Dell laptop that maybe doesn't support WPA. You could try disabling it on both the iMac and the router and see if you can get the laptop to work that way, but then you'd be without security. You could try WEP, but that isn't very good. Maybe get a new wireless card for the laptop.

For the other parts, you can download freeware at places like MacUpdate to remove that stuff. I use Delocalizer and Monolingual to remove language files. I think you can manually remove printer drivers, but it doesn't take up that much space.

The laptop supports WPA - I had to fiddle with the various options and think I got it to work - didn't realize that WPA-Personal is Apple-speak for WPA-PSK which is what the laptop has as an option. So much for today's issues - let's see what happens tomorrow! Thanks.

If you erase and install you may loose the iLife programs... but not sure...
Yes, "Erase & Install" will remove all iLife programs, but you can easily
re-install them from the original install DVDs. Removing iLife programs
is an advantage if you don't need them all. For example, I currently have
no use for GarageBand or iWeb -- so, I saved 2.5 GB of disk space by not
re-installing them. They can easily be added later, if/when the need arises.

Hi,

I have a question. A friend of mine told me that it was better to reformat the whole hdd (since it was used) but I think that a erase & install would be better right? I want to get rid of all the info, it says in the home folder the name of my uncle and stuff. If I do an erase and install it would clean EVERYTHING right?? Thanks for the help. PS I don't care loosing all the apps, its a 12" PB running a 40GB hard-drive taken from an iBook so every megabyte saved is welcome.
