Those 100-button remotes these Windoze all-in-ones have are so generic and uninviting looking.

They could use about 90 less buttons. Actually they should give a couple to the iMacs's remote.

I do like the hdmit input on the Sony. I'm kind of peeved you can't use the imac as an external monitor if you want.

You mean this:

Even higher today ..... suckers rally !! :D

We are on the verge of a Global Meltdown dude, this time next year we'll be in the middle of the worst Depression in history ..... Apple stock will be hit just like every other, unless you think Apple is recession-proof ??

Perfectionist's stock tips are as stupid as his opinions on Imac competitors attempts to copy

Both are terrible
Is it a bird ..... is it a plane ..... no, it's FanBoy-Man !! :p

I am not sure if this rival is mentioned in this thread, but to me it looks pretty good.
The Advent AIO 200

True the iMac looks better and probably has better built quality.
But for the price ($799) this one is tough to beat...if you can live with Vista that is...

Here's the full advantage list of the iMac:

*Better design
*Fastest processor (3.06 and not 3 GHz, minimal difference, but still faster)
*Lightest:

Weight

iMac 24": 11.5 Kg
Sony Vaio: 15.4 Kg
XPS One 24: 18 Kg
HP TouchSmart: 26.31 kg

*Best GPU: Both the GT 130 (aka 9800M GTS) and probably the Radeon will outperform all the others GPU (unless they're super underclocked):

*And most important, the OS: Mac OS X

So really, when it comes to performance and design the iMac is better than all the other All-in-ones mentioned here.

The cpu in the imac is certainly not faster than the the other one. It is a mobile chip while the other one runs a desktop chip with a higher Front side bus.

Every single one of those PC all-in-one's are utterly horrid looking systems. You couldn't pay me to exchange my iMac for one of them, the HP one is the "best" but it's minging in the "flesh". The rest border on looking like 1990's breeze-blocks in comparison to the iMac. As for the "Lenovo", aside from it sounding too close to the name of a Rangers striker, it looks incredibly cheap in terms of built quality. In fact, every single one of those systems look like the cheap LCD/DVD combi systems you see in Asda for £149.99 in terms of build quality compared to the iMac.

It's getting incredibly boring reading the same pish week in, week out with PC users almost desperate to "convince" us the Apple system we've bought was a waste of money and could be matched elsewhere in a cheaper PC system. You all just don't seem to get the point; we want APPLE computers because we switched from PC and Windows to Mac and OS X ... we don't want some ugly, cheaply built, hellish knock off of an iMac, we want the iMac.

If I walked into a friends house and he told me he'd bought a new computer, only to introduce me to one of those PC all-in-one's I'd reply with, "I'd have lent you the extra cash for an iMac if you wanted one that badly".

Let it go folks.

Prove it to yourself by going to your local Sony Centre ..... trust me, they don't make crap !! ;)

Tell that to the tens of thousands who had PlayStation 2 DVD drives break down within 6 months of launch, the tens of thousands who have had to return their PlayStation 3's to Sony because of Blu-Ray drive's simply dying out of the blue (no pun intended), and the tens of thousands of users who bought stand-alone Blu-Ray players that suffered the same fate.

Going back even further, the thousands who forked out on "the next big thing", Mini-Disc, only to suffer lens failures and witness Sony do what Sony do best; put a format out there, and let it sink. (Betamax, UMD ... and Blu-Ray was set to suffer the same fate until the movie studios were swayed by the $/£ signs to desert the superior-at-the-time HD-DVD).

Sony are not some uber company with a history of superb build quality. As someone who has a close Uncle who's worked in the Hi-Fi and Home Cinema trade for over 20 years, I've witnessed/owned enough Sony equipment through the years to see how their build quality has deteriorated as time has passed. Their expensive super-range of Widescreen televisions, the Wega, was plagued with the usual Sony TV fault of flimsy SCART boards which broke away within 12 months and led to flickering pictures and sound as the SCART connection struggled.

Sony "fans" are somewhat more deluded than the most enthusiastic Apple fans.

VGC-LV2SJ = Screen specifications ?!

Hi overthere

My vaio screen just broken by a damned cd box fallen on, I am on buying a new Sony stuff because I find their screens as good ones.

Do you have anywhere their specifications to compare with samsung SM -T240 24" Wide / 5 ms / 300 cd/m² / 20000 :1 ? My retailer gave me it as better than Sony

Thanking u for u support

Quite shocking to re-visit this thread merely five months later, with AAPL playing around.... 166?

What a perfect prediction from Perfectionist!!:D

Not forgetting Apple is debt free with 31BN in the bank.

Ridicolous thread...iMac 24" is by far the best value among those, just the premium IPS (and not TN) panel is worth 500$....and people speaks about Media Card Readers and TV tuners....

If you post here a "thing" with TN panel, please don't call it "iMac competitor". (unless you mean the 20" iMac)
