I've got that exact same spot in the same location.Hey, I have the same problem with my iPad air:

I thought its only mine, but if all have the same problem there's no point in getting a new one I guess.

Why would outer shell color and storage cause the issue?Same - third device with the same backlight bleed in the same location. I wonder what's causing it? Until its fixed in production I think this issue will stay.
I also think it may be specific to the 256GB Sky Blue option.
I have got 2 of the 64GB in space grey. Both purchased at same time from same shop and both have this issue in the same place. We are returning them to the shop and it’s now put me off buying any more! It was part purchased with love2shop vouchers so I think the store will now give me a gift card for their store. Was meant to be a present to myself, was given the vouchers as worked for same company for 20 years. I decided to keep mine as the device is perfect otherwise. Since it’s a manufacturing issue you can always get it replaced for a new one when the issue is fixed in a few months.I have got 2 of the 64GB in space grey. If...if it is acknowledged and, consequently, fixed. But considering the so-called “white spot problem” that some have reported here, I would not hold my breath. That said, Apple did just a day or so said that some of their recent AirPods may be malfunctioning, which they will fix. So...!I decided to keep mine as the device is perfect otherwise. Looks about right. Do those who are complaing about light leaks see it in the black bars in the situations like in these photos? If yes, that sounds pretty bad and definitely annoying.Letterbox movie, full brightness, dark room. Is this a "normal" screen?
We took ours back to the shop we purchased them from (John Lewis in the UK) and it was a complete palaver. They wanted to check both ipads for this leak themselves, said they needed to see the fault for themselves, even though they really had no idea what they were looking for. They kept saying they couldn't see it on either ipads. They took the ipads off to a dark room but refused to increase the light setting from the factory reset. They kept saying because we'd opened them and they couldn't see the fault they couldn't refund us. Suggested we take it to the local Apple store for them to test and say yes they were faulty, and then for us to bring them back to John Lewis. We stood our ground and in the end they gave me back the full amount, part in gift vouchers and rest of my card (as this was how it was paid for). They even said because we'd used them, even though we'd factory reset them both before taking them to the shop, they would need to send them to a company and pay for them to do a data wipe! My partner said this wasn't right.
It's not noticeable in any situations other than a black image.Just wondering if this is just a basic limitation of edge lit LCD. I haven't noticed this on my 2018 Ipad 11Pro, but I also don't display a black screen and turn the brightness to full in a dark room. Isn't that kindof a worst case scenario for LCD tech, atleast one that is not full-array backlit?
Do you guys or gals see this in a normal everyday setting using your ipad?
Oh ok...in that case I would say that to just not look for issues if you don’t normally see them or they don’t detract your enjoyment of the ipad. Ofcourse, some screens may be more extreme than others, in which case you can make a judgement call. I would use that return time period liberally to test it out in day to day use. It's not noticeable in any situations other than a black image.
Exactly. After getting the replacements with the same bleed I realised I was making such a big deal out of something I couldn't even normally see. Apple has a good warranty program, so if it becomes a bigger issue I can return for an exchange any time within a year (manufacturing will probably fix it in the coming months).Oh ok...in that case I would say that to just not look for issues if you don’t normally see them or they don’t detract your enjoyment of the ipad. I typically never watch movies on my ipad in the pitch black, so I can’t say I’ve ever noticed this on any of my 6 or 7 ipads I’ve owned. If I was to crank the brightness to max in the dark, maybe I would have seen something.
Good luck with that given the white spot problem with iPads 10.5, Apple won’t acknowledge that issue .I decided to keep mine as the device is perfect otherwise. Since it’s a manufacturing issue you can always get it replaced for a new one when the issue is fixed in a few months.
They will as they replaced the 10.5 iPads if it was still under limited warranty (1 year).Good luck with that given the white spot problem with iPads 10.5, Apple won’t acknowledge that issue .
