Notch or not notch in the new iPads?
The original design on the large iPad Pro was simply bad. iPads pro is mostly used in landscape position. Faceid is hit and miss in my iPad Pro due to the location of the sensor. My mini with touchiid works much more efficiently.
(Just had a MAJORkeyboard freeze in iOS 17.4.1, had to kill Edge!)

i hope they don't do a notch. i don't mind the notch on iPhone or MacBook but a notch on the side?? No thanks. I know a lot of people use it landscape. If apple add a notch then they need to make landscape the default and change the apple logo and rear camera orientation, button locations.

Wouldn't the Apple Pencil just go on the side where the camera currently is? Unless there's not enough space there...? 🤔

My guess is that they will release a new version of Apple Pencil (Pro) and old ones won't work at all.

make it like this Apple if you wanna do a notch or landscape face id camera. if my photo shop skills were better i'd put the power button on the top left and the volume beside it or on the left side.

These are **PRO** iPads, with a "pro" price… so why doesn't Apple put -2- camera assemblies in there, one in Portrait and one in Landscape?? The massive amount of greed vs giving the consumer the best value/product for a premium price is just tiresome. Absurd. These camera assemblies aren't that much money to source, at Apple's volume. The iPad Pros need to start doing something significantly different, to differentiate… or the product segment is toast. Anyone who has used a Pro and an Air, short of the 12.9 inch, can attest that there is no real differentiable performance reason to spend the extra money, but for the display. And difficult to justify the cost for only that any longer. The rumor that Apple is going to raise the price of the Pro models certainly won't help that math!

And…
Please also rotate the Apple logo on the back.
I've thought for a few years this would be a great idea, using a round e-ink display that would paint the Apple logo inside (in inverse: 'white' Apple in a black circle), based on orientation, or could display Find My "lost" information while keeping the display off.

Apple simply does not Think Different any longer. It's now Think PROFIT!

It makes sense to change this, because when you think about it, what's the point of designing the back of the device as if the iPad was used in portrait mode when it's almost never used that way... I would reposition the camera and the cell band as well.

The Ipad is created like a note book (A4). Above makes no sense. Maybe for the 12.9. Not any other model.

How the hell is Apple going to do this?

The Pencil on the side will block the side speakers...

I really like the charging on the top of the screen when in landscape.

And I really don't see the big deal of having the camera on the side. Unless I'm looking directly at the camera, my eyes will always be pointing somewhere else when on a Zoom call, you know, like the CONTENT being shared in the meeting.

Let's see what happens...

The best way to use an iPad is with Apple Pencil. A landscape camera means the keyboard zombies won.
I agree, but to be fair, any time the iPad is set down and propped up, it ends up in landscape. That is the only option the folios will allow too...

So this could go either way, but I prefer the status quo.

I agree with others that maybe the 12.9 could have a side cam, but the other iPads are hand-held, which in my opinion portrait is the way to go there (MUCH easier to hold that way).

The base iPad is a precedent Apple already set, so we may have to suck it up no matter what.

What's with the mockup? Not only does it show ridiculously thin bezels that would be impractical for an iPad, but they also highlight the fact that the mockup doesn't include the very thing the article is about: the camera.

Are you suggesting that Apple is neglecting the iPad? That’s ridiculous! Look at all the updates over the last year! Such as…

Oh… :/
