I would disagree, how many iOS Devs are there, how many quality apps, how many people using them, anyone with a iOS device. I don't know what your smoking but iOS isn't going anywhere and neither is ARM. Windows failed because they had no apps even the normal apps. No devs no apps= no customers.

You're right but no way is x86 going away. Anything on x86 being used today doesn't work on ARM so an A20X Maxx chip could be superior in a technical point of view but still doesn't mean much when most stuff people need to use windows for like video games ( call of duty and etc) and other stuff which ios doesn't do.

Did I say x86 was gonna go away, that was a mistake but for mobile devices I think overtime ARM will reign supreme as devs continue to port to iPad. Already we have a real photoshop replacement on iOS and illustrator replacement coming soon. Its only a matter of time before the iPad will be able to do what a laptop can do.

Its all very well but until anyone actually puts one of these chips in a real computer its a bit academic. Very few people actually use the full power of the ipad Pros and even if you could the local storage for processing is small compared to regular computers and workstations

Id be more impressed if Apple actually implemented ProMotion etc on the macbook pro rather than throw everything at the iphone and iPad Pros

512gb is small? I'd disagree considering 64gigs alone is more I will ever need.

I disagree strongly. There are some of us that handle images and complex data of tens and hundreds of Gb which can choke the Ipad 'Pro' immediately. Plus its cramped to sit and work on for long periods unless you get the 12.9 inch model.

When you then sit at a Macbook pro its like changing into the seat of a Mercedes

Data sets I understand obviously the IPad Pro cannot due workstation class work and number crunching, but images and video, find me something the iPad would instantly "choke on"

What is the encoding Apple has with its recorded 4K video? Either way with iOS 11 and HEVC and HICEVXYB :D:p I believe that will solve itself.
You don't use lossy compression for the masters. I believe video masters might actually be 8K. I remember reading about video editing and authoring where 3D, IMAX, UHD, HDR, etc. were being discussed. Besides, you'd probably be using a multi-monitor setup for this.

Casual or prosumer use, sure. iPad may work. It'll probably be a while before it starts replacing workstations.

I'm still waiting on a video export speed test of the new Pro vs MacBook Pro.

It's totally unbelievable how technology has advanced just over these few years.

Beside, the lack of external drive support is a limit for casual users as well and a no-go for prosumers...

Actually you should do your homework a bit better... X86 emulation is a thing and Microsoft seems to have figured out how to actually make it useful.

If ARM continues at the pace it is going I can certainly see it becoming the dominant processor architecture. It offers the same improvements that Intel x86 offered when it killed off the Power PC.

You should do your homework.... emulation will never beat native support .

Long story short ARM will never kill off x86 . Might have better sales with declining pc sales but will never be the sole chip sold . And as far as the verge goes I don't tend to pay attention to Apple biased websites like them .

While true, emulation is never meant to be an end solution. It is a band-aid while apps are re-written for a new instruction set. I doubt x86 will go away completely but as I said before, if ARM continues to offer the same if not better performance while remaining extremely efficient, x86 will not be the main processor architecture used in PCs going forward.

The Verge is hardly Apple bias, proof???????? Am I missing some giant sign??
