It's not just the control center, it s also: spotlight, notification center, the music app UI, swiping pages, rotating keyboard, quick reply.
And again I cant see anything wrong with Spotlight, notification center, swiping pages or anything else.
I don't like Music app UI, TBH, but that has nothing to do with stutter or lags...

Do you even use your phone?
I use it, quite extensively ....

There must not be enough threads discussing the same thing already over and over.

8.4 and 8.3 were working perfectly on my iPhone 5s (and still on the iPhone of my wife).

I switched however to iOS9.0 and after that to 9.1.

Here are my pros and cons:

Pros 9.1:
- Not much pros for older iPhone 5s to upgrade
- Spotlight search in (parts) of some apps that were updated to support this feature
- Especially iPad related (Slide Over / Split View, Picture in Picture) or latest iPhone 6s and 6s+ (3D Touch)

Cons 9.1:
- 3rd party keyboard (e.g. Swype, Swiftkey, Path Input) lag/stutter big time to show (was not the case with iOS 8.3 and iOS8.4)
- App Store issues that apps or updates on apps are not downloaded completely (hanging), a few days later you can download them after all
- Spotlight search (down sl

Same:
- no difference in battery usage still great on our iPhones on both 8.4 and 9.1
- Notification Center and Quick Actions menu are smooth on both versions

Is there any reason to not update to iOS 9.1?

For a first impression: no. Many people complain because they can compare the new to the old. Giving him 9.1 right away will give him a seamless experience without having to adjust when he eventually upgrades to iOS 9. Moreover, iOS brings plenty of security and privacy enhancements that people should care about. As a rule of thumb: only defer upgrades when you have a good reason for doing it, otherwise upgrade whenever possible.

My dad got s new iPhone 5s.
It came with iOS 8 installed.

It is his first iPhone so there"s no settings or content to be concerned with.

Is there any reason to not update to iOS 9.1?
Well...I don't know about you, but if you don't update..you'll get a daily reminder to update.

Like you only use the control center.
You don't use spotlight. You turn off animations. You don't have Tapatalk,Facebook or any other app installed.I Use all of these and my iPhone 6 does stutter from time to time.Facebook,Tapatalk in particular have nightmarish stutter

What do you mean ? :S
lot of people on forum like this just complain about non existent issues ...
And keep in mind that's a fact that on forums like this, especially when Apple is involved, there are even people that doesn't really own an iPhone but are complaining nonetheless. Call it astroturfing of just "supporting the brand", but you have to take that into consideration.
A geek forum isn't a representation of the real world, in both positive and negative ways.

Gotta be in it to win it
You mean to tell me that Facebook,Microsoft,Google all have the SAME BUG in their code
So do you even have a 5s and would care to post a video of your 5s lagging or whatever. I have two in the household.

And yes it's the app or every app in the App Store would be doing the same thing. Facebook was perfect out of the gate, no issues at all with it or battery life.

So Google,Microsoft,Facebook are incompetent developers?
Facebook ? YES, definitely yes on every platform.

Google ? Most of the time ... that depends on the app.

Microsoft is not involved in the matter.
But we know perfectly well that according to your agenda Apple employed incompetent developers but Facebook clearly not. Very credible

There's hardly anything new on iOS 9 for the 5S, and so far no 3rd party apps I use require iOS 9, so i'm sticking with iOS 8 as it can be jailbroken. BTW podcasts in iOS 9 is terrible, it's much better in iOS 8 and older.

Anything new ? iPhone 5S supports all the new features of iOS 9 except 3Dtouch...

Actually no. I have a 6s on iOS 9 and a 5s on iOS 8. There’s really nothing special for the 5s unless you are one of the few people who use apple maps and siri. With iOS 9, you get a poorer multitasking menu, you don’t get front facing display flash, you don’t get apple pay, and you don’t get wifi calling on most networks. I don’t see what you actually get that’s useful for the 5S.

I don't know if you are being obtuse on purpose or not...
New notes, new iCloud Drive, new Siri, new maps, new battery saving mode, less storage used for iOS, security patches, Safari ad blocker.... All of this are supported on iPhone 5S
