Yes, he should look at apples website to see a list of software only updates from iOS 8 to iOS 9. It may be his opinion they arent worth anything, but ok whatever.

Nope.Always on Hey Siri can be activated without battery loss after jailbreak on older models.Keyboard trackpad on iPhone and even 3D Touch gestures through swipe gestures are also available through jailbreak.Apple wants the user to upgrade hence they hold back certain features on purpose
Or, some of these features really don't belong on older hardware and apple really doesn't want to force you upgrade but they made a reasonable decision based on their testing of what features should be back-filled onto older hardware. Or you can jailbreak and get the added functionality and the minefield that goes with it. (I don't care whether you jailbreak, it's your phone and your personal information)
the ad blocker and new notes alone worth it, IMHO
The thinner iOS installation is another good reason.
JB is out of question, BTW Hey Siri doesn't come without battery loss and it's a useless feature in my opinion.
3Dtouch gestures without pressure sensors are ridiculous.
Keyboard trackpad not on iPhone (not even in the 6S serie) is a design choice I agree with and has nothing to do with the upgrade (it's not present on the new serie).

Or they DO belong on it and WOULD if Apple actually gave a damn about older devices.Jailbreak tweaks have already given a lot of functionality which works flawlessly as my buddies iPhone 6 has the Pangu jailbreak which I tried out and believe me with the animation tweaks he applied,that thing smokes my iPhone any day in speed.As far as personal information goes,only technically competent users are involved in jailbreak so they are smart enough to avoide any security roadblocks
Hey Siri ON on an iphone 6 JB resulted in about an 5-10 min battery loss.An almost insignificant number given the functionality it provides.Budget Androids have had this feature for a really long time with no battery loss
parallel swiping on icons and accessing the 3d touch menus is also quicker than what we have now.It doesnt replace 3D touch but provides around 60% of its functionality which is why Apple didnt back port it to the 6 which would prevent people from upgrading
Keyboard trackpad was present in the very early betas of iOS 9 on iPhone 6.The reason they removed it is because it rendered the 3D Touch tap for keyboard tracking on the 6S useless and not a compelling feature to upgrade

If you want to jailbreak and all that, go ahead, but I don't know why I should trust "your methodology" of "testing" hey Siri battery loss. In fact that is just as bad you saying Apple doesn't include features because they want you to buy a new phone.

Because there is specific hardware to support it in the Moto X which isn't there in the iPhones prior to 6s.
Heres some info.There is minor battery loss on the Moto X 2013 with the Always on feature.Same thing with the iPhone 6 except perhaps a little more.The 6S has dedicated hardware but no reason why the 6 cant have it.Jailbroken iPhone 6 has battery life to spare with it on
Moto X also has dedicated hardware, that is why many other Android phones from that time don't have that feature.
