There is no such thing as an Iphone killer.

The only thing that can kill an iphone is noob.

Even if it does "kill" existing iPhones, what do you think will happen when Apple come out with the iPhone 4G with 4G network support, multitasking and a less intrusive notification system?

Well that hasn't happened yet, has it???? Just like the touch was coming out with a camera? And so far, multitasking and notification systems are the shortcomings of the iPhone.

Motoblur skin on top of Android is a mess and freaking ugly.
So far every supposed iPhone has....failed!!

Has anybody taken a look at the new Nokia N900 running Maemo 5?

I think Nokia is on to something here...;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au_uRmoy8Fs

Nokia is almost there with the N900, BUT I think Maemo have a long way to go, Apple already have tons of Apps for almost about anything, while Maemo is on it's first baby steps.

The only time that these supposed to be iPhone killers will succeed is when Apple stopped improving the iPhone..

:apple:

This isn't meant to be an iPhone killer.

It's meant for high school kids. Interesting move. If the execution of the software is good, it could sell loads. If not, it's into the toilet with this one.

as with all smartphones, its all about "we have this, does the iphone?" ok 5mp camera, blah blah features. Stop trying to reinvent the iPhone. Be the wave, dont ride it!!!!!

I think that's what they did when the added a 5MP camera and a memory card slot. If they had wanted to copy the iPhone, they would have added a 3.2MP camera and NO memory card slot. They did neither of those. They did not copy the iPhone. They paved their own road, they are leaders. If the next iPhone has a 5.0MP camera and a memory card slot, then Apple will be the ones copying. If Apple does not want to copy, they will add ANYTHING that is not a 5.0MP camera and ANYTHING that is not a "memory card slot." It's okay for Apple to add a 5.0MP camera and a memory card slot, but understand that they will not have been the first to do this. They will not be paving the road; they will be following.

Apple copies no one, it's Apple that set the trend. If memory card slots and 5mp cameras were important then they'd have added them already since they've been around years and years now.

An iPhone killer without 3G via T-Mobile>>>FAIL! I'm yet to see T-Mobile 3G in California, Hawaii, Washington DC, Washington, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nevada, Oregon, Maryland, Boston, MA, Virginia, West Virginia, since my summer vacation included each of these states/cities and T-Mobile 3G was "ZERO" this summer.....:eek::eek:

how many times have we heard the term "iPhone killer"

not every touch phone that comes out is a iPhone killer....

What the fudge? Motorola is a leader? Isn't this the second or third phone to use Android? Aren't there others with 5MP cameras and memory card slots. Wowzas.

Apple usually has reasons that are pretty darn good for not doing this or that. 3G? Sucked up too much battery at first. 5MP camera? Probably won't fit in the iPhone because it's not 8 inches thick like this blur thing. Physical keyboard? Doubles the size of the phone or cuts the screen size in half, not to mention a pain to make physical keyboards for multiple countries. Memory card slot? I bet those itty bitty cards run things extremely slow, which Apple doesn't really tolerate.

The one functional thing most of these other smartphones have over an iPhone is multitasking/background apps. That's all about battery life. When Apple can allow those without killing battery life, it will. Until then, Apple will try the background notification server and probably keep us happy enough until that time. I think the BNS could be useful for some things, but this server farm will have to be huge to handle crap like Twitter updates, news bulletins, IMs, etc. that most of us want. I'm still hankering for background notifications from ScoreCenter since that was demoed a few months ago.

well you can seem to come up with excuses for everything apple fails at doing.

Here is a good one for you. What is apple excuse for taking over 2 years to finally adding MMS for the iPhone. Everyone is blame ATT for lack of MMS right now but what is apple excuse for not having it day one.....

Really some people refuse to look at some thing. Apple biggest problem is they are form over function on almost everything. I personally thing the memory expander are pretty nice for just moving data around. It does reach a point were it is not useful.

I do find some of the ramped bash it because it is not an iPhone pretty bad around here. No were did they talk about the iPhone in the article. No it was the OP and the people here who put in iPhone killer....

Apple were trying to be "innovative". They wanted to steer the industry in the direction of using email only for picture sending/receiving.

Then why did Apple allow SMS? Surely they would have wanted everyone to use email for that as well. D'oh. :)

Apple never even hinted that they had anything against MMS. That's just a fanboy myth, attempting to explain its absence.

The answer is most likely much more mundane. Either they were trying to figure out a way to make money off their own future version, or...

Jobs simply had no interest in MMS and put it at the bottom of the to-do pile... just as copy & paste was. Or did you think that Apple was trying to steer the industry away from that as well? (And homescreens, 3G, stereo BT, etc.)

Hint: Just because Apple doesn't include something right away, does not automatically mean they're against it.

and then like some one else pointed out why have SMS and why over 2 years later finally add it in.

Or why no copy past day one and so on. You just fork out what excuse people came up with but that excuse was completely destroyed when apple added it in.

nice thing about the new Moto phone and the new HTC is that people are writing apps that talk to other apps and combine your contact information in one place from multiple sources. After finding the duplicate contact bug on my iPhone it seems Apple is a dismal failure at this and give it a few more years and Android phones may start to kill off the iPhone with much better apps.

the way it's going Apple will have to either relax it's total control fixation or think up of something else like Push to compete. my 3GS contract runs to 2011 and i don't plan on paying full monthly price for a cell phone that is paid off

the SD card slots on other phones are the exact same flash memory that Apple uses in the iphone

and a lot of people won't care if it's thicker than the iphone since most people i see with iphones and ipods keep them in their bags

it's like the fanboys say, it's not the feature list that's important it's the features that matter to people
