Personally, I think they'll be in the same form factor.

I think the click wheel will use the patent they had for a multi-touch click wheel.

They might adopt a plastic backing, but I doubt it. Chrome and iPods seem to be their thing - even with the Touch.

As for the colours I think they will either go vibrant and shiny (think high gloss metallic), or a fading effect, or completely multicoloured (ie: clickwheel and body varies in colour).

Maybe a higher resolution screen, and wireless headphones (at a large push) - but I can't see Wi-Fi and the like.

They need something to seperate the Nano's and Classic from the Touch line - and not just Apps and Multitouch.

Apps and Multi-touch are what separates those two lines.

Why do you want more separation?

Here are the two things I don't understand:

A) Why are so many people intent on seeing the Nano killed? I bought one classic, sold it, and have since bought two Nanos. I never want to go back to a HDD-based player. Flash memory is so much better for my needs. I also don't want a touch screen. I use my Nano when working out or doing yardwork and a touchscreen would get abused. I would never buy a Shuffle. I want to control the song I'm listening to and I definitely want a screen. I see nothing wrong with the current hierarachy.

B) Why do people get upset about capacity increases? Why would you WANT to limit yourself? Even if you don't have that much music now, you might in the future. Do you really NEVER hear new music you like? I discover new artists all the time. If you don't... I feel for you. As for not being able to listen to it all in one sitting: that's not the point! I want to be able to listen to what I want, when I want... period! I don't want to have to try to predict what I may be in the mood for and deal with swapping songs off if I'm in a hurry. I just want it all there any time I have the desire to hear it. If having unused flash memory capacity REALLY bothers you... buy one of the lesser models. One of you people that is advocating against capacity increases... please explain why it makes you so angry that other people might dare utilize more space than you or have broader musical taste than you. I really don't get it.

Both your points are well said. Couldn't agree more, nor could anyone said anything better. You really nailed it there.

pics or it didnt happen;)

what are you talking about?

I think he wants wireless headphones. You can get that anywhere via 3rd party. in my opinion, multi-touch and the click wheel are what separates them. Apps sure, but the main thing is the input devices they use to toggle around in the OS. Og and that the touch uses a mini verson of OSX as the ipod classic/nano use some 3rd party OS used in many mobile mp3 players.

iPod ad

Don't know if it's been said, but anyone think the new iPod advert (think it was the one played at WWDC) could be evidence for the new iPods being multicoloured?? Just a thought.

By evidence I mean that the backdrop has lots of colours and shapes, which could imply iPods of simialr colour.

I think it was mentioned. I hope they don't go multicolored this is 2008 not 1968 (or 1998 when practically everything was in colors and transparent cases (TVs, n64, imacs etc)
