I'm more upset with the lack of information about WHY it is being delayed (and possibly delayed again). I feel that a company delaying something that they introduced at a big keynote presentation with no reasons as to why is unprofessional. Obviously there is a good reason, but why haven't they said what the reason(s) are?

But they did give a reason:

The new iTunes is taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right.

its delayed because of bugs, wanting to get things right, the whole shake up with people getting fired, or they are too busy trying to fix maps

yeah, i'm thinking the same but i just wanted to point that out to OTHER people who still think it's because of a streaming service...there are some of these people out there^^

This is getting almost as bad as BB10 lol. Or Windows 8. Or the Microsoft Zune lol.

Of course they would. Normal users shouldn't have the beta and so won't have this issue. Developers who do have beta access who genuinely need it and think about their requirements, will correctly set their computer up to manage two versions. Meaning, no one should have this issue, working within the rules.

does that mean i wont be able to use my phone on friday if they havent released beta 3?

----------

Till September!!! That would be quite a delay :p

LMFAO at your signature!

hmmm.. iOS 6.1 beta 3 and iTunes11 friday?

I bet iOS 6.1GM and iTunes 11 on Thursday. Since there has not been a lot to Beta 1 and 2 other than the few UI changes. I mean how long can you beta test a new "report a problem" button and spaced out volume control?

Plus the bugs with 6.0 and 6.0.1 with WIFI and other issues most likely being addressed in this release instead of any new items. All speculation of course!

Here's the thing though, it says November...but it doesn't say what year.

Apple are just being jackasses now.

If it has taken an entire full month beyond October 31st to release it, why the hell did they wait until the very last day of October to change the sign to November?

They must have known in mid October or at least by the last week that it wouldn't be ready. This is costing Apple a lot of goodwill and lost of trust from fans.

iOS 6.1 probably wont be out till early 2013 like how iOS 5.1 was not out till early 2012.. at least two more betas and than gm?

the week long vacation for thanksgiving has not helped any because they got no work done on iTunes11 that week.

Bad logic. iOS 4.1 was out in September. Basically, it doesn't matter what Apple has done in the past. Each piece of software is gonna have a different time schedule.

As much as I'd like iTunes 11, I must be alone in this delay creating more goodwill in Apple than less, after recent events. The fact is, they appear to be taking the time to ensure that the software is actually ready for public release before, y'know, just releasing it to the masses as essentially a beta - something we haven't seen too much evidence of (Apple Maps, anyone?) in recent times.

Who knows what they delay is caused by? New features that just aren't up to spec? Bugs which are difficult to track down? I'm looking forward to iTunes 11 - and I'm looking forward to it even more with the feeling that it will not just be feature complete but largely bug free too.

Ok, Apple maybe need to get away from giving release dates - saying iTunes 11 was coming soon rather than giving a specific date would probably have been a good idea. But hopefully this is a sign Apple are going back to releasing software when it's ready, rather than when the calendar says they should.

yeah how hard is it to put "coming soon" for the banner rather than a month?

This is a pretty intense statement that reeks of self entitlement. I'd hate to see the people making these comments would be saying if Apple released it before it was ready..... Maps forgotten already?

Apple are not harming anyone by taking their time releasing iTunes 11 as no released hardware requires it. In addition it's a free piece of software, and Apple are free to release it if and when they please. Had anyone pay for it, then your comment wouldn't seem so brash.

For the record, I'm as anxious as the next guy, but I have far more important things in my life than stressing so hard over a software release date. Time to kill though, so I felt I would add my 2 cents to this thread.

i agree.

and this is why apple is getting on my nerves over this iTunes 11 situation - if its not ready, don't tell me its going to be ready by a certain time, to then fail to live up to that announcement. especially twice in a row like this. if its going to be delayed as well, then friggin tell us as soon as possible.. don't tell us on the last day of the month!

im thinking the whole reason apple announced this in september in their iphone event, was not simply because they were certain they could get it out in time, but because they needed a little extra Filler in their press announcement.

I wonder if they'll wait until the very last minute again to change the banners to, "Coming in December".

totally agree with you on this! its really annoying.

Yeah I agree. And 5.1 had several new features. 6.1 so far does not. Plus they are getting hammered with bad press about the WIFI issues with iPhone 5, and older devices with iOS 6 as well as their new baby iPad. As for iTunes 11, well everyone here may be posting in another thread how iTunes 11 removed this feature and that feature and how they wish 10.7 was back blah blah... :)

It could be a huge mess and all you guys will be re-installing 10.7 again LOL

PS. I am eagerly waiting for it to but just sayin. If it never comes out I will live on. 10.7 plays music and allows me to buy crap so.......................

It's been delayed once, not twice.

Also, I hope none of y'all play video games. Games get delayed ALL the time. Some get cancelled. Some just mysteriously disappear. Y'all would die.

Definitely agree - either be vague, or at least keep us up to date! Admittedly it's a difficult line to walk, though. I'm a Windows Phone user after having far too many hardware problems with my iPhone 4 - I find myself just as frustrated with Microsofts lack of any information on Windows Phone 7.8 (announced with no release date and no information on release since) as I do with Apple announcing a release date of October and then November. Companies need to at least give their customers indication of progress if not of actual release.

I have more faith in Apple than Microsoft, though, to deliver a good-quality software update.

yeah its been once, probably going to be twice soon though.

i play video games, and unlike apple, delays were announced well before the release date, not on the release date.
