I was just browsing best buys website and came across a new lifeproof case. Has anyone heard of it ? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nü...54925555&skuId=8935663&st=Lifeproof&cp=3&lp=2

I ordered from best buy. They say I should receive it next week. I can't wait.
A friend of mine who I used to work with at AT&T is now a Lifeproof rep. I ran into her Wednesday (the same day they announced the nuud on FB) and she said she was told July 7th was the release date.
My amateur observations on this...
1. Since it seals against the iPhone screen and doesn't encompass the phone I would say this is not a water proof case, just water resistant. That is the verbiage they use on the BB page as well.
2. Since this leaves the screen exposed, I'd say calling it dust resistant is a stretch.
3. Either this case is covering the speaker and microphone ports using waterproof membranes, likely leading to the same sound issues as the current case or they are left exposed making it less water proof/resistant.
It seems like they are trying to solve the bubbly-screen issue at the expense of water and dust resistance.
It's fully waterproof. You still have the option to protect the screen yourself against potential scratches. And then there's still the Fre model for those looking for all-around protection, albeit at the cost of using a terrible integrated screen shield.
Water is touching the screen of the device. That by definition is NOT 'waterproof'. Yes there are seals that prevent water intrusion from the interior of the device so it shouldn't affect the electronic operation of the phone but as anyone with a glasssed in shower can tell you, even glass is not impervious to the effects of water, especially salt water. In addition, previous lifeproof cases haven't exactly been super-rigid. One little tug on the side and that seal is split.
I definitely wouldn't trust the seal of a tiny O ring against a $10 plastic screen protector either. All it takes is a hair-line scratch to ruin that seal.
No, this is a very, VERY water resistant case suitable for 90% of people, but I would not trust it in the nearly same conditions as a fre.
They do state "waterproof" and state up to 6.6 ft for 30 minutes. What's more, these cases will all be tested for their "waterproofness" (is that a word?) in Lifeproof's facility so you are no longer required to test it when you get it. Which is kinda nice.
I have yet to see water leak through glass? I would be interested to see such a thing actually. And this includes salt water. But remember, if you are really skittish about it, you can pay an extra 10$ and get their waterproof warranty as well.
Personally I think it's the greatest innovation in waterproof cases ever. They seal the same as the iPad case with a gasket that sits around the screen with pressure on it. I have the Nuud on my iPad and have no issues with it at all.
