It may be just as waterproof as the Fre, but my main concern is dust/dirt since I am an archaeologist. If I need to use a screen protector with this case to keep my screen from scratching, I might as well spend $10 less and get the Fre for use at work and use a regular case with no screen protector when I am not in the field.

But that's just my opinion....

This is really what its all about. Use the Lifeproof in those situations where you know you need extra protection, and use a standard case for non "vigorous" activities. That is exactly what I did with my Otterbox Defender until I got the Lifeproof Fre

I wonder if it will work of you have tempered glass installed. I have an aluminium home button and tempered glass screen protector. It would be cool if it did

We will have to see. I would think no though. The tolerances would already have to be pretty little for this case to work with the way it is sealing your phone from water, so I would think that the added thickness of a glass screen shield would be too much, but it would be cool of it did work.

I question if my Moshi screen protector will work as well. Interesting to see

Agreed, I suspect you are right but I hope it's wrong!

I hope not, I really want to use a glass screen instead of the one they provide.

I like the feel of natural glass.

I would think it work, the seal would just put more pressure on the glass protector and may be a bit more difficult to snap on the back

I would think one would only want to use the Lifeproof Nuud with a screen protector. Likely dust and grit will collect between the case seal and the iPhone glass which will scratch the iPhone glass over time. Eventually you will remove the Nuud case and there will be scratches in the outline of the Nuud case seal.

I'm going to give this case a go. I go deep fishing and surf fishing frequently, and need to protect it from salt water damage.

fish on! #

man if you are doing surf fishing, you might want to get the normal Fre' with full screen protection and all.

I'd stick with the Fre, Incipio Atlas, Otterbox Armor, or Griffin Survivor Catalyst over the nuud. At least those cases protect the screen from scratches out of the box without the need of putting on a screen protector. =\

I think this is really funny. I've used a lifeproof case as my everyday case since I got my 4S almost two years ago. I love the lifeproof case and I really love the waterproofness. I've taken my phone into the pool and the ocean (and even the shower) and I don't have to worry about it.

However, I do not love the screen protector. In my opinion the screen protector is one of it's biggest weaknesses... It doesn't adhere directly to the screen, so you get some touch sensitivity issues and some screen distortion issues... Moire patterns and such. If you look at the Fre thread on here you'll find lots of complaints about the screen protector.

I haven't used any of the other waterproof cases, but from reading about them it seems like the screen cover is a common complaint. I think it's great that lifeproof was able to get rid of it and I'm super excited about this new case. Clearly it does expose the screen to the possibility of scratches or other damage, but other than an occasional trip to the beach I'm rarely in a place where I would have to worry about that. If you spend all day digging in the sand then maybe putting up with the screen protector on the Fre is a better option for you.

Also, as far as installing screen protectors with the nuud case, it's worth noting that the screen protector that comes with it is much smaller than the iPhone and is meant to be installed *after* the case is installed. They want the case to be sealed directly to the phone's glass and then the screen protector will cover what's left exposed. The ipad nuud case is the same way. It doesn't come with a screen protector, but the 'lifeproof approved' one is an invisishield protector designed to fit only on the exposed glass after the case is installed.

I'm sure you could any screen protector as long as you cut it down and install it after the nuud case is installed so it doesn't interfere with the seal, but trying to install the nuud case with a regular screen protector may be difficult due to the tolerance issues and would also make me concerned about water intrusion.

Yeah it is a shame, I really wanted to try out that new bodyguardz pure glass screen protector :)

guess I'm gonna have to settle with the one they provided

I am hoping some aftermarket vendors start selling Nuud specific screen protectors, ie, like Invisishield did.

How hard is it to put on (and replace) a screen protector?

Put on correctly, they are almost inpossible to tell they are on, unlike the cases you mention about (the atlas is good but has other serious faults). I would take a nuud over the other everything else.

What's good about this nüüd case is that if you plan on putting a screen protector on you can really drench the screen with soapy water and move the screen protector around for the perfect alignment.

I really like the idea of this case. I want something like the lifeproof but every time I play with a friends phone that has it on it I can't stand the poof from the built in protector. If I can either buy a already fit one or try and cut one to fit myself this could be pretty much the perfect case for me.

I have zero issues with my full lifeproof. I don't have screen issues or bubble issues. If you follow the instructions it works perfectly.

That "poof" shouldn't be there. They are not operating the case as the instructions tell you to.

Do you have the iPhone 4/4s or iPhone 5 case, because I can guarantee you the iPhone 5 is not perfect. I have tried 3 different ones and installed following the directions to a T.

I previously owned the LifeProof for iPhone 5 (the newer color ones). I experienced no issues except a slight oil slick effect on the screen. Screen sensitivity wasn't an issue at all for me either. It was a great case but I wanted to try other cases before settling on one for rugged use.

I'm currently using the Incipio Atlas and have no issues with this case whatsoever. It's like a LifeProof Fre but with a tempered glass screen protector. I haven't run into any audio issues because I use a Bluetooth headset, speaker, or my deck (via Bluetooth) to listen to music while in my car. The same goes when I owned the LifeProof (Bluetooth for everything).

I'll be sticking with the Atlas for now until it gets beaten up to the point it needs to be replaced.

how is one supposed to operate the case? it has all those issues and they are well documented with many users of this forum, its a love hate relationship. i hated it, life proof sucks

First Atlas went back. Home button ripped, had a squeal during calls and speakerphone didn't work at all. No one could hear me. Replacement, still a slight squeal, screen cracked bottom right hand corner while trying to use the keyboard. Lifeproof over the last 3 years has had minimal issues. I'm going back.
