I'm a bit confused, why is everyone wanting to use the fre back piece with the new nuud front piece? I like that the nuud is clear on the back, like my previous griffin survivor catalyst (returned that to order the Nuud). I temporarily bought a lime green fre to try out while I waited for the Nuud, and I think I got one with a defective screen cover, and the package was already opened. But if the screen was a bit flatter like some of you had, it actually wouldn't be that bad...I really like that there is no plastic bezel around it like the Nuud will have. It also at least keeps the retina screen quality, whereas the Griffin cut down on it and made it even harder to see in sunlight.
Yes my home button is crooked. I don't have a problem with it because the screen is awesome. Unlike the life proof fre cases I've had in the past.
Does the screen protector that comes with the nuud cover the whole screen or just the part of the screen that is exposed? Just curious cause I am wondering if I can use other screen protectors with the case.
it only covers the screen that is exposed.
In faact, according to ewoods, it does not 100% cover the exposed screen, its a little shorter, I guess to make applying the screen and taking it off with the case on easier
That means a little bit along the edges of the screen will be exposed..
According to lifeproof, they dont recommend u use a 3rd party screen protector because that will affect the seal.
That's why I'm holding out onto the BodyGuardz pure glass screen protector until others try it out with other screen protectors, if they are brave enough to do a water test
I got mine today at a bestbuy in Minneapolis
The first best buy I went to said they showed them in stock but couldn't find it and the second I went to had them but couldn't find them and then I found them sitting on the counter
I like the case but am a little concerned about the screen being exposed to salt water or chemically treated water. Also curious about hot tub water too...any ideas?

My local Best Buy had them in stock. They just received a shipment of the nuud and Otterbox Armor.
I didn't pick one up though. I don't have a need for another case. My Atlas is still in good condition. I will consider getting the nuud when the Atlas gets worn and beaten to the point it needs to be replaced.

It's glass, but it's got a lot of fancy coatings on it... definitely oleophobic to reduce fingerprints and I think antiglare and scratch protection too. I think the concern is whether the saltwater would affect those coatings.
I've had my ipad with the nuud case in the pool a few times and I haven't seen any adverse effects from that. As I recall, they show the ipad nuud case in a hot tub in one of the promo spots for it as well, so LifeProof doesn't seem to think that hot water would be an issue.
I'm not sure about how it would fare in salt water, but my guess is that as long as you rinse it with fresh water after you should be fine. Mine will definitely be going into saltwater as I live in Florida and I go to the beach occasionally, but I only go a few times a year, so it won't be getting a lot of saltwater exposure.
And on another note, I'm crazy jealous of you guys with cases right now. I ordered from LifeProof and I just got a tracking number last night, but it won't be here until Friday (and it shipped from Dallas, which I found a bit interesting). I'm hoping it'll show up in stock at one of my Best Buys sooner though and I can pick one up there instead.
Remember Lifeproof talks about taking them to the beach all the time! That's what they are made for. I have seen sooo many videos of people scuba diving and surfing and swimming in the ocean with them that Saltwater is fine. As for the pool think about all the Chemicals in the pool and it works fine there.
Remember these things are gorilla glass, the coatings are actually in the glass not on the outer layer.
My worry is the hot tub though, I mean it has a rubber seal on the screen right? And with extreme temperature changes that seal should expand and contract so I worry about it, but, in heat it expands right? So it should actually form a stronger seal theoretically.
Well I live in Huntsville, Texas and I looked on bestbuy's website and the nearest store that had the case in stock is an hour and 20 minutes away on the west side of Houston. So I went on and placed my order for store pickup since Im heading out of town tonight and can detour a little out of the way to pick it up. just waiting for the email from bestbuy letting me know that my order is ready for pickup
I'd suggest calling the store to make sure someone can actually touch it before you go too far out of your way. Like I posted before, I (and a few others, I think) had placed orders for store pickup, got the email saying it was ready for pickup, then later got a call from the store saying "nevermind... it's not really here"
It looks like they are starting to appear in stores now, so you might get lucky and find one that exists, but it's probably better to call first and be safe.
Be advised - I did the same thing, different store obviously. The next email I received indicated the case was unavailable at every local store despite the fact when I ordered it 15 minutes earlier it was in stock.
Double check on actually using the belt clip with the nüüd case! One I saw did not allow you to lock the belt clip as there was a gap towards the top. Same with any of their accessories using the same sled as the belt clip. It does fit, but does not lock/snap in place.
I'll be calling during my lunch break, the last email I received said I should be receiving the "ready to pickup" email in about 45 minutes. Its been about an hour and 20 minutes and I haven't received anything.
I just received the email stating that the case was not available at the the store I chose first. So I called bestbuy customer service and a best buy a few miles down the road showed online that it was in stock. So now wait and see if this other store will have it.

Unfortunately I'm in Orlando, so it's a bit more than an hour from me, but I'm crazy enough to drive out there for it I just placed my order for store pickup, so I'll wait until I get the confirmation email and then call to make sure it really exists before I go, but I have hope that I might actually get a case in my hands today.

Lol nice. I am actually in Orlando too, and early this morning every store in orlando showed in stock, now unavailable again. I ordered mine monday night and it said expected the 14th, but I may pick one up and return that if the local stores get them on shelves first. I have a friend who lives in tampa, but I wouldn't drive that far to save 2 days max lol
Where in Orlando are you? As long as I'm going to Tampa anyway I wouldn't be against picking up an extra case for you if you want to meet later this afternoon or evening. Send me a PM if you want and we can work out the details.
