I recently checked other laptop brands… e.g. Huawei matebook: oled display, 120 hz, 980 grams and 14,2 inch size, 1000 nits and touch display. Meanwhile Apple Airs… Even Pro is still far behind other brands.

Long as Apple designed/built WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 or 6.0 connectivity chip inside M4 MBA; for me, no brainer to upgrade from my current 15” M2 MBA to M4 MBA.

Apple should bring the Nano Texture Display option to the Macbook Air lineup. It would be a game changer for those like me who use the Air while on the go, traveling etc.

Given how this will almost surely be “new chip in the otherwise exact same computer”….

One wonders why it’s not out already

Feels a bit artificially spread out to juice sales along the way

I wonder how many folks opt for an M4 MBP that would have perhaps gone MBA had it been an option

I'm not sure if you're new to how business works, but every single computer ever made is like this.

It's like people assume everyone updates every year.

I have to disagree Qubelek. Apple Macbooks are just better overall P.Cs to use for work and creativity, not to mention the far better build quality and integration with iPhone/iPads. My MBP 13 2015 with a Intel i5 Broadwell chip works almost like brand new even today almost 10 years later, no Windows laptop would last this long. With Apple Silicon, Macs are just on a different level now in terms of performance/efficiency and the current Macbook Pro 14 or 16 are undoubtedly the best laptops on the market.

The only area where Windows laptops are unchallenged is in the Gaming PC market, they are the kings here no doubt.

Apple is rumored to have many product announcements planned for the first half of next year, including updated MacBook Air models, an iPad 11, an iPhone SE 4, the AirTag 2, updated iPad Air models, and potentially more.

In a social media post today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterated that the iPad 11, iPhone SE 4, and updated iPad Air models will be coming in the "spring" next year. Notably, he said the updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M4 chip will be announced "earlier" than those other devices, but he did not provide a specific timeframe.

This likely means that the updated MacBook Air models will be announced in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website at some point from January through March, whereas the other devices might be announced at Apple's usual spring event in March or April. Apple would be getting the minor MacBook Air update out of the way early.

Apple earlier this month released macOS 15.2, and in doing so it accidentally confirmed new MacBook Air models coming next year.

No major design changes have been rumored for the next MacBook Air, with only the M4 chip and other minor upgrades expected. Plausible new features could include a Center Stage camera, and an upgrade from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Apple already updated the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini with M4 chip options a few months ago. Geekbench results showed that the M4 chip is up to around 25% faster than the M3 chip in terms of multi-core CPU performance.

Improved processing power and latest port type are appealing features — and certainly worth an update. Soonest available in ‘25 would be fantastic.

Maybe for you, I can't see the difference. Battery life and weight are what matters for me.
I have an M1 Pro 14" MBP and for me it's a difficult tradeoff. Would never have decided on the Pro and the heavier weight just for the 120Hz, but the XDR display tech was a significant factor for me.

Still 60 Hz on Apple's base products for artificial reaons. I bet it wouldn't cost a single cent for them to make it 120 Hz.
Not arbitrary and I doubt you could price anything in a computer development process.

I hope it has one of those fugly notches. That allows the screen to be pushed beautifully into the corners. And disrupts the screen content and menu bar. And puts people off buying it, especially if they aren't locked into the Apple ecosystem and want something normal looking. And even if they are.

You're in luck! It's very likely to not change!
