from what i've read Santa Rosa is a glorified C2D that enables the use of 4g of ram and improves processor speed by 7 hundredths but if i plan on getting one now with 3g and the 2.33 i don't see any reason why i should wait...especially if Santa Rosa bumps up the price...

ok this is totally off this thread topic but does anyone know the best sleeve case to get for the MBP's i want something that fits pretty snug and isnt bulky...thanks

I bought a MBP 4 days ago....people kept telling me to wait but everything i wanted is already in my macbookpro. If you really want it then go for it. The new macbooks useally mean price hikes!!

The new macbooks a week ago actually dropped in price for edu discounts. And I've never seen a price jump from an update...they're usually pretty good at keeping their price points.

the mac minis shot up in price when they moved to the intel architecture. also, macbooks and g5 imacs went up in price compared to their predecessors. granted, it was an entirely new form factor, but it's not out of apple's capability to raise prices.

Well of course its possible - my understanding is simply that its unlikely...

Basic rule of thumb is if you don't NEED it, wait as long as possible to buy it.

The longer you wait, the better deal you get no matter how you cut it. While waiting until WWDC might be pointless, waiting a little longer will probably be worth while.

In the end if you really want it or need it, and are not concerned with the woes of a rev. A product (assuming there is some kind of design overhaul) then it makes perfect sense to get it the day of release.

this is just smart economics. delay any purchases of items that will depreciate in value as long as you can. you just have to weigh it against the happiness you think you'll be giving up during the time that you wait. but you're more likely to regret having bought too early than too late. be rational!

so i'm ordering tomorrow regardless because if i wait and get the upgrade with 4GB ram than its going to boost the price...which i can't afford so i suppose i'll just have to deal...but i should also say upgrade or no upgrade it's a :apple: Mac so it'll be AWESOME no matter what...

if it comes out tomorrow, i will probably get it (being my first mac and im so excited)

mainly because i dont see why the wait for WWDC... what would they give out????????? ... i dont want the ultraportable.... and i see little chance of them releasing a free upgrade to Leopard or a discount for it due to the fact that they are handing them out to strictly ppl that are attending the conference

I might be wrong because im a little new to the apple world but correct me if im wrong!! :)

i agree with blizZ10...this is my first mac and although i have been an avid mac lover for over 3 years now i am now finally getting one of my own...WWDC may be the release date none of us know at all...and although it would be nice to have the leopard beta discounted or upgrade it would still be a BETA so i plan on getting it tomorrow...

Im in the same boat, you guys may have talked me into buying tomorrow...

i'm hoping to get a 2.16 ghz 15" macbook pro for $1499. when the new macbooks came out, prices dropped $300 on the "older" generation models, and i'm hoping the same happens for the macbook pros.

I said this in another thread and I'll say it again. People need to stop making assumptions about this WWDC. Case in point: this years's MacWorld had absolutely NOTHING to do with Macs. That being said, I wouldn't expect anything. That way, one can be pleasantly surprised.

(disclaimer: I am referring to the keynote, not the entire conference)

so what is your point because right now it is just filled with poorly structured sentences? your post says macworld had nothing to do with mac so are you saying wwdc will have nothing to to do with development?

Actually, if you don't mind the current MBP lineup and IF they really do release some new MBPs in the new week or so, wouldn't the current lineup go down in price? So maybe its actually a smart idea to wait either way if you do want the new line up or the current one :)
