When using the new Siri, the bubble pops up and then expands a bit as Siri reads the answer to your query. What I find annoying is that you have to dismiss the pop up manually. It doesn’t disappear once you have your answer. When using the magic keyboard that is particularly annoying as it is a bit difficult to dismiss using the trackpad.
Can you interact around it? Or does it lock out other interactions with the iPad? Personally, I'd be fine with manually dismissing the new Siri (still waitlisted) if I could work along-side it.

I can't always use what is "under" the pop up Siri window. I really wish it was easier to dismiss. I think currently the easiest way is to click the power button, but when you're using a magic keyboard you don't really want to have to take your hands off the keyboard or trackpad.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm curious to play with it.

I personally love the semi-dismissible side "tabs" in iPadOS. I wish Apple had leaned into that more instead of trying to visually mimic MacOS (must. avoid. angry. tangent.). Perhaps a middle group would be to push Siri to the side like you can PiP or QuickNotes, just with a different visual tab.

Just got the new Siri on my iPad yesterday and she can't seem to do much. Hoping maybe it will just take another day or so for it to straighten out. Checked all the settings and they are good. I asked a simple question about Abraham Lincoln as a test and she thought for a full minute and then said come back and try again later. Really!?

I had the new Siri AI added on Friday. I played around with it a little with a friend. We both use ChatGPT regularly so are very familiar with that and what to expect. First off Siri AI is a huge improvement over what we had up to this point. So points to Apple for using Googles AI and getting it to be part of Siri. Has a long way to go though still, super slow replies. I know it is in Beta so I am more lenient on it because of that. If this was their full public release I would say it is a few years behind and because of that not really usable. The discussion abilities also feels very old Siri like compared to ChatGPT. As an example, and I will not get into details as religion and politics can derail things quick. I asked both Siri and ChatGPT the same question "I'd like to talk about XXXX". The reply from Siri was the basic history of said topic along with some base facts. It was very google search like mixed with Wikipedia. Now the reply from ChatGPT was far more conversational. It first replied saying "Absolutely. I'm happy to discuss XXXX with you. It's a vast subject, so we can approach it from whatever angle interests you. For example:" and it listed out some starting topics for discussion. Far more natural and the response was immediate. No pauses in replies and the conversion could flow just as it would flow when talking to anyone in person. Siri again on the other hand is more akin to dialup internet as you wait for the page to load... slowly.

Siri's integration still leaves much to be desired. Now some of this is down to the developers. I tried to have Siri look for info in one of my google chats and then in Outlook. It admitted it could not search google chat but outlook it just said it could not find any emails from said person. The said person was literally the newest email I had. Also using Apple Calendar I asked it when Terry had his vacation scheduled for and it could not find it. It started today and was listed Terry - vacation, with the dates he will be gone. Now it handled pictures and messages (iMessage) well. I was able to ask for specific detailed things and it pulled up an image, or the info I needed from a chat message with a friend.

Again this is all beta so I am hoping they will have things much more together and functional by release date.
