Good for you. By the way, I am talking about the Solo loop, not braided. Maybe that one fits better on people's wrist or is more forgiving.
I measured a 10. Got a 10 braided loop and it fits perfect.
I measured a 6. Got a 6 from FedEx today and it is perfect! Slightly snug actually. Go figure! The 5 would be uncomfortably tight on me.

i still dont get the sizing guide apple provides as a print out. the print out version measured 7 on my wrist. where as the posh version of the sizing guide (at the apple store), which has a sticky tape at the back, measured 1 size less (between 5 and 6). i found 6 to be slightly loose but 5 was a snugish to tighter fit. however, i have been adviced that the sports solo loop would stretch upon usage. so i bit the bullet and went for the tighter 5 size. the first day of usage i could definitely feel the squeeze. i had the perception that its always there on my wrist. but after day 4, i can definitely say that it sagged a bit, just enough to to give me a snug fit. the fit is so apt that i sometimes feel i am not wearing the watch at all!. so i suggest paying a visit to the store before you make the purchase.

I went to the store yesterday. They measured with the tool they have there - he pulled it quite tight, and I got a size 6. He then told me that it is recommended to go down one size - i.e. 5. I then tried a size 6 braided solo loop, and it was ok but felt slightly too loose. I then tried a size 4, and it felt better but perhaps a tad too tight. However, since it will stretch over time I think I would go with a 4.

He told me that the solo loop stretches more than the braided solo loop over time, and that you can expect it to stretch a whole size. Thus, he recommended size 4 for me if I go with the solo loop.

i had a silicon solo loop that was tight. it sagged a bit after a weeks usage but still snug. snuggy fit appeared good intially but it wasnt comfortable especially when the band gets wet. so i swapped it to one size up. i felt the best test would be to slide the tip of your index finger (at least 1/2 an inch) under the band with a minimal effort. anything more is loose, anything less is tight. i know the test is very vague, but it worked for me.
hope it helps you too! good luck!

I was on the 7/8 line. Went higher and the fit was just how I like it. I can't believe all the pictures with people showing tight fits. How totally uncomfortable. I sold the loop because I did not the put on / take off routine. I did order a couple of the braided loops from overseas so we'll see how they are but I suspect I will just trash them.

Do we know the size increments the bands go up each size? I measured an 8 and got my band today finally. It fits pretty good but is honestly a bit snug. I feel a size up would be perfect depending on how much longer one size up is.

Thanks

Measured a 6 using a simple strip of paper that I marked with a pen and measured in cm with a ruler.
I later confirmed as a 6 using the printable tool after I had already ordered the braided loop.

All the talk here had me panic-order a size 5 a couple weeks ago so I could have one ready just in case the 6 was too big. The size 6 finally arrived a few days ago and it fits perfectly so I canceled my order on the size 5.

I bought the 5 in the shop after measuring a 6 and it coming up too big when tried on. The 5 was too tight and made a mark on my wrist and gave me a rash. So personally i wouldn't rush into getting a smaller one if doing it ver the internet - go and try one on in the store as they will only exchange it once. (Although I have to say the 5 was comfy in the store for me, and at home until it suddenly started itching - perhaps be careful if you have sensitive skin?) they clean the straps in between each person.

What do you mean they will only exchange it once? I’m not aware of any limits, unless you’re exchanging 5-6 bands.
