While Android has fewer tablet optimised apps, the quality of apps overall is about equal on both platforms in my experience (I have an iPhone and Nexus 7).

The Facebook app is crap on all platforms because Facebook make crappy apps. I use Tinfoil anyway so they can't steal all my contacts, track my location, etc.

Go back and get stuck on stock iOS for who knows how long before a jailbreak is released? Not me.

I'd rather deal with the issues of a couple apps than an entire operating system.

How is he "stuck" if he likes iOS? and I would rather deal with a very bad OS(customisability wise) rather then having good one and ****** apps galore as I have experienced on my Nexus 4.

He was asking about our thoughts so I was referring to myself.

And every app that I had and used on my iPhone, I've had no issues with on Android. I find there are a lot more useful apps on Android that apple doesn't even allow. Keyboards being one of them.

Oh I agree on that front. Swift key is awesome! however apps like flip board just look like the iOS version stuck on Android. Google really excels at app design as their Gmail app shows it's just that many Android developers are lazy and that annoys me.

Sorry, not buying the Flipboard comment. First image below is a live feed from Flipboard updated hourly (or never or daily as the user wishes). I stretched it to fill the entire screen on my Nex7. Once I click on that article, I get a beautiful magazine spread, with the same "flip" page animations, save for offline reading, access twitter, Google+, FB, and a host of other feeds.
Of course, I can all share content with anyone via gmail, dropbox, drive, NFC, Bluetooth, etc or print an article to any printer I have attached to my Google account. I fail to see any difference between the iOS and Android app. Oh, one difference. On Android, I can choose to make Flipboad a white or dark "inverted" theme.

Not on my phone. it looks bad.

Just a question, what ROM are you running? how did you get the app drawer to get that X? can I get that X for app drawer on rooted stock ROM Nexus 4?

Flipboad looks awesome on both my S3 and Nex7. I have it inverted on the S3 and like it better than the white pages.

As for the navbar icons, you can use any ROM that allows you to change your navbar. In my case, I am using Rootbox (which is available on all Nexus devices BTW). Just go to Settings -> ROM control -> Navigation Bar. You can then change the stock navbar icons for custom ones. (See image below.) All you need to do is find any icon you want via a Google search and put it in place og the stock one. Hit the save button and you are done.
Not sure if this can be done on the stock ROM or not? I never use stock vanilla Android.

No problem. :) CM10 is fine, I just find it too bland. Rootbox has a ton of features and customization that gels really well with Nexus devices. I also use the Faux kernel for over clocking, but doubt you'll need a different kernel (than the one that comes with Rootbox) on the Nexus 4.

I use franco kernel and stock ROM right now. I guess I'll try out rootbox.

I agree with the OP. The reason I am never going to go with Android again is because of the apps & the lag. I bought a Nexus 7 about a year ago, and it lags constantly. I hate how I have to jump through hoops just to get it to stop lagging. People will constantly lie and say jellybean doesn't lag, or they'll say my device is just messed up. Nope...

The apple app store is wayyy better than the google play store. There are no data mining apps or malware. The first day I had the nexus 7 I downloaded an app that would put random bookmarks on chrome. I sometimes have apps that put random pictures in my gallery... It's annoying that I have to look at permissions and read reviews before I download any unfamiliar apps. I would rather have a boring phone with a lot of good quality apps than a laggy ass customized phone with limited apps.

Well you obviously have not tried out a Nexus 4. No lag and stil going strong 7-8 months later.

"People constantly lie..." Usually people with an agenda or are trying to justify their beliefs lie. Just because you experience lag doesn't mean everyone else is. I experience bad lag on my iPod 4th gen, but I'm not gonna say everyone that says their iPod doesn't lag is lying.

And do you really believe Apple doesn't use data mining whether via the credit card and personal info you provide via iTunes or the apps you buy in the App Store? You sure about that? Might want to check the screenshots below. And BTW, malware has been found I the app store. No one is immune.

Android def isn't for everyone, especially the technically challenged. If I know someone doesn't want to work with their phone or simply don't want to learn how to use Android, I always recommend an iDevice. With an iPhone, Apple has gone out of their way to ensure you can only use it for simple single process tasks, and usually ensure each task or app is independently isolated from others, so there is no cascading failures. Locking users out of the file system and minimizing any customization goes a long way in making sure every user has the same experience. This also makes for a very bland, dull and non-personal experience.

My N4 still lags. It's pretty fast most of the time but its still nowhere near my iPhone 5. Also, my iPhone 5 is jailbroken so it's as close to perfection as I've ever gotten with a phone. I do agree with OP about app quality. I find my iOS apps to be a lot more pleasing to use and look at.

Yeah, and I never want to try it.

Um... there are malware apps in the google play store. -___-

People say that and while its obvious there SHOULS be more malware in the play store by its very nature, no one can actually currently find any. Can you?

You'd have to be downloading some silly stuff.

It's been found on the apple app store less than 5 times, and the apps are up for a short period of time. You also need to give permission for the apps to access your address book, pictures, etc. The apple app store is way safer than the play store. There's nothing anyone can say to convince me otherwise. I can download any app and not worry about apps putting random photos, bookmarks, or other BS on my phone.

I honestly don't care if my phone is bland and barely customizable. I don't get a phone so that I can customize it... I mainly care about apps and the reliability of the phone. You can customize android devices without having to root your phone, but it slows down and lags even more from what I've experienced with my N7.

Off topic but what battery theme are you using?

Not a theme. It is part of the Rootbox ROM. There are multiple battery icons/looks you can choose from. All in the ROMs settings under the Battery options. See below. If you have a Nexus device or recent Samsung Galaxy/Note, you can use this ROM.

I also like the HALO feature. A nice indicator that stays hidden until certain actions occur on your phone or tablet, then it pop-up with the info. In this case, when I took a screenshot.

Not sure if the rom (CleanROM) I'm using will be compatible.

I don't like people that are close minded. I am leaving this thread.

I'm not even CLOSE to a close minded person. I gave android a try, and had a bad experience with my Nexus 7. I'm not going to waste any more money on android devices until the things I dislike about it are fixed. Why would I try a Nexus 4 if I didn't even like my Nexus 7? Why can't people understand that not everyone who dislikes things about android are close minded? Android devices aren't good for everyone. If I say I don't like something about android, everyone acts like there's something wrong with me. If I was close minded I never would have even bought a Nexus 7. I really tried to like it, but after a while I honestly couldn't stand it.

No, you see the Nexus 4 is completely different:) I had a N7 and it did lag a lot I agree on that. But the Nexus 4 really does not lag(there is a very, very slight input delay however)
