I have the Space Black metal link watch, so I would keep the watch in nightstand mode full-time. Is the Space Black metal link watch compatible and will I be able to charge it like this in nightstand mode full-time? It was my understanding that a previous $29 dock sold by Apple was only for their Sports watch. Thanks!

Apple have never made a dock before this one - the previous docks they sold were made by third parties.

This should be compatible with the link bracelet, though only with the little puck section popped up so the bracelet can go around it.

For $85, you could get 2 incredible modern looking and well made matching docks, one for AW and one for iPhone.
These are very well made dock and heavy so they will likely never move on night table accidentally, unless you want to move them.
I have AW dock for awhile, never consider any other AW dock at all after I have this, and thinking of getting a iPhone dock also.

I don't work for NU.

add in $29 apiece for the lightning cable and watch charger... this is not the same thing by a longshot.

It's still better looking than apples flying saucer
I think the new apple dock is very functional, but I have to agree with out. The design is very un-apple like. I'm not really a fan of the look, but in this case, I'm willing to live with it, since it includes the charger and the flip up design is cool. Its just not the best looking dock on the market.

Yes it is. But £65 for that thing? Apple are delusional!
But it includes the magnetic charging, where is everything else is just the base

also, if you have an iPhone and a AW you already have what you need from a charging standpoint.

however some people are in a situation where they would buy an additional charging cable along with a dock, for example if they are frequently between two locations. i'm not saying everyone or even the majority are, but there are people for whom this isn't an unattractive proposition.

Agreed. I would just prefer it be a choice instead of tacking on another $30.

NU is better, I have one, so I could speak from my own experience, not speak from the picture I look, and imaging what could be like if I own one.
Do you have a NU AW stand or Apple AW stand in your hand you could shared with us on actual real life, hand on, not imagination experience?

I will never put a white UFO on the night table.
Unless you are a kid or teenager, a white UFO disk is not a good look for the bed room.

Apple designer for AW stand and iPhone stand must be 2 totally different team never speak with each other.
These 2 just does not look like come from same company, metal vs plastic, round vs square, recessed vs elevated, not match at all.
I won't put them on same table, just looks like someone work very hard to be Apple fanboy, everything Apple.
Not all accessories Apple make are good.

depends on your style. I live in a very modern flat in the city with modern style. It would not look out of place at all. If you have classic taste, yes it would look odd

How is round/square, metal/plastic, of iPhone & AW dock/stand, when AW is extension of iPhone, matching each other?
They look totally different, with Apple try to match the style from iMac, Macbook, iPhone, iPad, I am just surprised why this white UFO just appeared no where?

Added: Not to mention that white UFO looks huge compared with AW. I would prefer not to take up too much space on my night stand, for a tiny AW's charger.

By the way, Apple really screw up here. They should come up with 6 different AW dock look exactly same as new iPhone 6s/6s+ dock, with flip up/down inductive charger, but color match to 4 Sports casing, also color match with SS casing & gold casing. Also with lightning port on the back like iPhone 6s dock, so one could just carry two docks and use same cable to charge both device if needed in a pinch. Sell Sports casing color dock for same $79 with lightning cable included, and SS (plated) for $99 with lightning cable and gold (plated) for $199 with lightning cable.

A perfectly casing material matching AW dock to show case AW, with small platform, and specially look exactly same as their matching iPhone docks for AW sports owner which are majority of AW buyers, will not only look great when they are side by side, it will get people to buying both AW/iPhone and both AW-dock/iPhone-dock at the time of purchase, so they could have everything matched, and like showcase stands.

I can't judge the NU dock (which i'm not doing, btw, i'm just saying you're comparing cheese and brocolli, because one is a lump of metal allowing you to use your own charger and one provides everything bar the plug, so the value proposition is completely different. it's like saying a fibreglass replica of a statue is the exact same as the marble original) because i don't own one? but you don't own the apple one so how can you claim anything is better or worse than it? i'm confused.

they've only just released the matching iphone dock, right? so out of interest, what dock have you been using? i bet that's been blowing your mind that they don't match, right?

so instead of blending into a nightstand with a not very tall "ufo" as you call it you'd rather sit it atop a borg cube?

clearly you have personal preferences, and that's ok...

i don't remember the last time i even heard about someone using a dock for their phone... they became so unpopular at one point apple stopped making them. so why bother trying to match something so few people have? who knows, perhaps it's sized this way for iphone 7...

yes, aluminium on aluminium (scratchy scratchy!) or a gold plated disc are definitely what people want in their bedroom...

uhhh by the way it does have a lightning port on the back and you can do exactly what you wrote?

i don't understand your reasoning. Very confusing.
Actually I don't understand some of your sentence and grammar, they are confusing.

Anyway, here is some response:

Are you saying there are AW stand made of broccoli and cheese, and they are AW stand but they are not AW stand, even though they are both call "Apple Watch Stand" and with pics of AW standing on the them, but you say they are not same AW stand?

Also you can't judge NU, but you know NU is "not same by long shot"???

My wife has a RG iPhone 6s dock to match her RG iPhone 6s. Yes, they are prefect matched. Have you seen one in real life in your hand?

I don't like UFO in bed room. Have not seen any grown up person has UFO on their night table next to their bed also.
You got UFO in your bed room and night table next to your bed?

Where is data say iPhone dock is unpopular, or is it your guess, again?
I don't know and I don't care they are popular or not, I just know Apple is selling them.

Clearing you have not have Apple iPhone dock in the hand and clearing you don't bother to look at pics at Apple website before you make your opinion, there is a small pieces of white plastic/rubber between lightning connector and stand to ensure there is no scratch. AW stand I proposal could have a white rubber on the top of stand to help prevent scratch and match iPhone 6s stand design style.

i'm assuming english is not your first language. i am saying these are two very different things and you cannot compare them like for like. one includes a charger built in, the other you must provide a charging cable. that has value for some that you are ignoring.

as for your proposal, clearly you have not considered the link bracelet.

English as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th languages? Where is that come from, and what does it has anything to do with AW?
Or is it personal attack to me to specific point out your guess on what my nationality is? Do you even know where I am in this world right now? Are you sure I am in a English speaking environment, not French, Germany, Spanish, Japanese, Korean...... speaking environemnt?

Link bracelet, about what?

Again, your reasoning, sentence are confusing, grammar is better.
Also, still waiting for answer from the question I asked.

Go to Apple Store, and look at 4 colors of iPhone 6s docks they are selling right now, along with 4 color of iPhone 6s. Now imaging they also offer 4 colors of AW docks look almost same as 4 colors of iPhone 6s docks you are looking at, and also 2 more colors of AW dock with same style, except one is SS to match SS AW, and one is gold to match gold AW.

All 6 AW docks would have flip up/down inductive charger to allow AW to be charged flat on top of stand or charged as Night Stand mode. And all with lightning port on the back accept lightning cable, like current iPhone 6s dock.

Hope this version is better, once you able to look at iPhone 6s docks in person. They are pretty when matched with matching color iPhone 6s.

so you're proposing they change the colour. with a rubber base for the watch. look at the shape of the link bracelet and think about that one.
