I don't like the idea of having iOS 7 on my iPhone iOS 5, so tomorrow comes my Nexus 4.

Some time ago I have no android, the last was a Galaxy Nexus and had Bootcamp on my MacBook so I was used a windows tools for that nexus (Wug Nexus Toolkit).

My question now is ... what tools exists and recommend to change the ROM, rooting, unlock, SMS support, etc in *OS X*?

thx.

watch the video, the step by step instructions has typos. BE SURE TO UPDATED TO 4.2.2 before doing this if it does not come already updated.

http://nexus4root.com/

this is a great rom, and download franco kernal updater once rooted

Do you guys think buying the Nexus 4 now would be a bad choice considering that the 5 is not that far away?

I kind of want to sell my SGS3 now and go to a Nexus. I enjoy using stock on my Nexus 10 much more than my S3 right now.

Maybe I could get a good deal on a second hand Nexus 4. I won't get too much for the S3, not close enough to the price of the Nexus 4 second hand.

The thing that worries me is that the release of the Nexus 5 becomes a mess again, and that I would have to wait until January or so to get one, and by then I would get even less for my S3 I guess.

Is battery really bad on the Nexus 4? Much worse than on the S3?

How much do you think you can get for your S3?

A N4 wouldn't be an awful choice. You just need to know you are essentially buying last years hardware.

As far as battery life, 3-4 hours SOT of average use throughout a typical day is what you can expect. Once you start limiting features, turning off GPS, mobile data, bluetooth, and essentially turning your smartphone into a feature phone, you can squeeze a little more juice out of it.

I don't recommend letting kids with glue use your nexus 4. Cause then you won't have one to use. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372879263.702468.jpg

I finally got it out and it's not good at all. Power button is stuck down and it's covered in glue

Hard as a rock won't even scrape off. I tried taking the back off praying it would still work but its all stuck down

I'm not entirely sure if I would be mad, just amazed that it happened. You, sir, now have a really cool paper weight.

I have another phone so I guess I'm not sure mad. Funny thing is that it works fine. I turned it on my plugging in a USB cord. Volume rockers work and speakers work. That stupid power button

Well what do you know, I broke the back plastic while removing it, but she's perfect on the inside. I just gotta find a replacement back now and ill be back in business (fingers crossed!)

My Nexus 4 has ended up lost. Absolutely gutted I am! :(

Having to make do with a Huawei Y300 for now until the Xperia Z Ultra comes out.

Well after nearly 5yrs on iOS I finally bit the bullet & ordered a Nexus 4 yesterday

Quite excited about the change, fed up of iOS with it being too locked down. Nothing ground breaking in iOS7, not keen on the look either!

Should be running the Nexus 4 by the end of the week :D

Good luck! I remember you being so happy when you managed to get a hold of a Nexus 4 back when it was hard to get one.

After using mine since February, I've gone back to using my 4S. I just got bored with the Nexus 4. It's still activated with a $30 T-Mobile plan and always will be because I use it for tethering at home. 15-25Mbps down is faster than my DSL so there are plenty of times I use it for this.

Mate, welcome to the club! I bit that bullet 2 years ago! :O It has been that long!!!!!!! WTF! Anyway.... You shouldn't be disappointed, some people dislike android, just because, but for a week or 2 frustrations are likely to happen, because of the difference, mostly small placing of things etc. :)

PS looking at that pic of the low-end, has anyone heard of any more reports, about the confirmed SMS/MMS/phone app replacement coming for Hangouts??? WHEN GOOGLE, WHEN, I NEED IT!!!!!

Nexus 4 owners/discussion thread.

I'm in the same boat. I got mine in November and I used it exclusively for a few months and left my iPhone 5 on my desk. I found the best android apps and tinkered with ROMs and kernels. Ultimately, I ended up back to using my iPhone 5 as my daily driver. It just feels so much better in my hand and is easier to use one handed. Also, even though the N4 doesn't lag the iPhone is still so smooth when it comes to loading and scrolling and animations. I also jailbroke my iPhone so I have a lot of awesome tweaks that make it work a lot better; and look better. In my opinion the FlatIcons theme for apps, UI, and keyboard looks way better than the design of iOS 7. Having a 64GB iPhone also makes the choice easier. I use it for a lot of media consumption. I find the apps to be much more pleasing on iOS as well. There aren't many apps missing on Android for me, but they just don't work as smooth or look as well designed as their iOS counterparts.

Is this a phone that it's still worth of consideration?
I mean, I'm looking for a new smartphone and the choice is between this, the One and the S4.
It will be my first Android phone and I've always said myself that if I would ever switch to Android, I'd get a Nexus, because of the similarities with the iPhone..

Are you in contract or can you upgrade? Is LTE and a good camera important to you? There are so many things to consider. If you would have to pay full price for an s4 or ONE, I would say the n4 is a great buy at half the price. If you can upgrade and are willing to do so buying either the ONE or s4 are good choices.

Well mine arrived Thursday & I absolutely love it! So much so I'm going to get a Nexus 7 to match...probably the next gen one seeing as it isn't far away :)

Overall I don't miss hardly anything from iOS & I've been an iOS user for 5yrs. iMessage is really the only thing I miss as many of my friends are now on iPhones, email client maybe not quite as slick but plenty of options in the Google Play store.

Overall V happy I made the switch!

Glad that you enjoy! I am trying to debate if it is worth it to buy one right now with the Nexus 5 coming later this year. Clearly you think so ;-) how are you dealing without LTE?

We don't really have LTE in the UK yet it's slowly rolling out, never had it so never miss it...Mostly on a wifi connection too ;)
