Agreed. I PMed a mod asking if this thread can be cleaned up. It's one thing to have a discussion, but three pages of arguing is excessive and unnecessary.

Is this your first time here? These kinds of off topic discussions happen here all the time. If you want to talk nexus 5 start talking. That is the way to stop these discussions.

I'm in total agreement with Couch here. I do prefer to keep my music/audiobooks stored locally to reduce data usage, I have a few GB of apps and I generally take quite a few videos. I've used nearly half the storage of my HTC One's 64 GB so 32 GB is the minimum I'll be able to get by with, regardless of the device. No 32 GB model and sadly, I'll have to pass.

Wow I can't imagine using this much storage. I've only used 8.6 gigs on my iPhone lol. I guess I'm the minority here.

----------

I do unfortunately. A ton of music on particular.

Gotcha. I really feel bad that you guys can't partake in the nexus goodness ( if there is no 32GB)

The HTC one is a pretty great android experience thanks to nova and swipe home so I can live with that to keep the 64gb storage. The only really sour bit about the one is the camera. I've expressed before, its dreadfully bad and overrated. Ultra pixels being more hype than anything else.

It would be foolish for Google to release 16gb as maximum storage. Personally I don't even feel 32 is enough. The standard should be 32/64. HTC got this one right

Storage Is Important

Especially since in addition to changing from an iPhone to an Android, I'd also like to kick AT&T to the curb and go with T-Mobile. Less coverage in my area so I'd need that extra storage.

If October 14th really is the event date does that mean notices go out the week before? Is that how it's been in the past?

If the answer is yes, well, you're lying. If the answer is no, by definition it is not a "back" button but instead a button that should be called something else. I am trying to strip it down to its simplest form, that being logic.

The 'anywhere-but-this-screen' button. :D

While I'm happy to hear rumors that it'll retain it's low price point, I hope that doesn't mean there are compromises, like say, with the available storage options.

If 16GB is the max, it'll be an instant no. I'm not going from my 64GB HTC One to a 16GB Nexus 5.

Agree , 16GB is too small. I hope they have a 32GB version.

We'll see. They always had an inferior camera in them as well and this one will be good.
If no 32GB version then ill just get a G2. I'm not a fan of always using cloud services.

Yeah especially here where some services like Play Music is non-existent.

Last year invites were sent out on the 18th for the event on the 29th, which didn't happen because of the hurricane.

Ah, yes. I remember that now.

----------

Unlikely. Google is pushing their cloud services to the brim on their Nexus devices.

I'd actually be pretty surprised if we didn't see 16/32 GB this time.

Grrr doesn't look like too much of a UI overhaul... I see a changed dialer and some camera tweaks, but same app icons and overall layout.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ui overhaul (which IMO isn't needed but I welcome the card look) doesn't come until 5.0.

In the mean time Google is updating all their core apps to have the card look.

For those who haven't read this yet BTW, it's a great read:

MEMS camera seemed too good to be true considering Google always has to screw up at least one thing on the Nexus.

The nexus phones do not have screw ups. I think I have said this before, but it needs to be repeated. Nexus devices are not suppose to be premium flagship devices. They are little brothers to OEM carrier phone. The specs are never going to be as good as the big brothers are, and why would LG, Samsung, and HTC want to make a nexus phone with the same specs? They don't.

All these things you see as screw ups are done on purpose. For one to keep the price down, and two to because the nexus line is a device to show off software. These are the devices that show off what android can do. Google is less worried a out specs, and more worried about making sure android is done correctly on the device. All the great hardware stuff is left for the OEM's carrier phones for the next year. The nexus phone always comes out late in the year when the next years tech is just around the corner. It is a standard that Google sets for OEMs to build on.

Everyone can keep wishing the Nexus 5 to be this super phone with all the best hardware, but sorry that is just not what the nexus line is about. I love the nexus line, and I have never been disappointed by it, but I also take it for what it is. If you want the latest and greatest of everything right now. Buy the note 3.

Lets get back on topic folks. This thread is discussing the Nexus 5. If you want to discuss Android in general, or other phones then use another thread dedicated to that topic.

Maybe the new Nexus will still be known as the Nexus 4 after all. The latest leaked screenshots appear to be from the new Nexus. When the photo brightness is adjusted, you can see that it isn't the old Nexus.

Yeah. I read that too. If it has a 4.97" screen, it ought to just be called the Nexus 5. It's ultimately neither here nor there, but how strange...

EDIT: I guess this makes sense...

"Google might save the Nexus 5 moniker for next year's big Android 5 edition milestone, and simply ship this year's version as Nexus 4 (2013) to go with Android 4.4 KitKat."

I could have sworn I read somewhere that Nexus 5 was mentioned in one of Google system dumps for 4.4...

Sticking with Nexus 4 seems really weird - the tablets I can understand given they're named after their screen size, but that's not the case with the Nexus 4 since 4.7" wasn't anywhere near 4. It was named because it literally was the fourth Nexus phone.
