For those of you wondering why the nexus logo looked as if it was partially covered. It was just glare :)

That camera lens definitely doesn't look like it's the right placement or size to indicate it's based on the Xperia Z1. I could be -- and hope that I am -- wrong about it, of course.

Apparently a LG phone just passed through the FCC and it looks a lot like this alleged Nexus 5. Personally, I would like to see Google do the 2 phone approach like Apple is about to do. They could release a 4.7" Nexus 4 based off the Moto X and release a Nexus 5 based off the LG G2.

That would be great. A complete Nexus family. Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 - wows.

They also need to proliferate their GPE's. Need moooarrr!

http://m.androidcentral.com/new-lg-d820-device-passes-through-fcc-could-be-next-nexus-device

This is looking pretty much confirmed. 5 inch screen though...a little bigger than I'd hoped. Shorter and narrower than the Nexus 4 though. Hopefully it's coming soon.

Now this device I'm getting excited about--nearly 5 mm shorter and 1 mm narrower than a Galaxy S4 with a display only 0.03 mm shorter, Snapdragon 800, LTE, NFC and wireless charging. Please have a quality camera and respectable battery performance and I'm looking at my next phone. (1080p display would be nice as well ;))

(Must not get my hopes up, must not get my hopes up...)

Nexus 5 (or 2nd gen. 4) "revealed" by Google

The camera slot sure is big enough for a great camera lol. Battery life IMO is mostly software so here's to hoping (again) that google did some battery software optimization with kit kat. Wow that sounds ridiculous. Kit kat lol

Like I said, I'm buying this no matter what. They would really have to screw something up to lose my money.

I'll also be very happy if it offers the same type of soft plastic rear panel found on the Nexus 7--really liked its feel in hand. The device in the video appeared to have similar styling.

A lot of commenters over at Engadget are pointing out the battery is 2300 maH.

What's the deal with that?

Great point. I liked the back and build quality of the nexus 7 when I had it.

I assume they are saying that it isn't enough. If there is some moto magic in the software or battery tech it should be more than fine. *crosses fingers*

How can this be less wide and less tall than the Nexus 4 but still match up to that video leak which clearly looks larger than the N4 that's right next to it?

Da heck?

----------

Prediction on prices, folks?

I figure $329 - $349 for the base model (16GB probably). And $50-to-70-ish or so more for the next model up (32GB probably).

Please no more 8 GB... please.

----------

And it's already passing through the FCC? When did the Nexus 4 pass through the FCC last year, and how long before it was revealed after that?

With the 8GB Nexus 4 out of stock permanently, maybe the new one is truly coming sooner than we think?

Yeah, I'm starting to believe something's not quite right with the dimensions--larger display vs. old Nexus (4.96" vs. 4.7") yet 2 mm shorter? Also the Galaxy S4 has minimal bezels yet as I mentioned in my previous post this device is 5 mm shorter with nearly identical size display? Unless it's nearly an edge to edge screen, I'm guessing it's actually going to be a bit bigger.

Also, considering there's always at least one aspect of a phone that doesn't fit my personal needs, I'm guessing I'll get foiled here with the memory storage options. As great as everything else is sounding so far, a max storage of 16GB will mean I'm not getting it.

UPDATE: Well, out of curiosity I put those measurements against my HTC One and they do seem possible, albeit with pretty small bezels all around. Here's hoping this turns out to truly be the next Nexus.

So out of curiosity (and boredom) I took the measurements from the FCC filing + some high school geometry and put the ~5" inch screen atop the picture of the back cover in Adobe illustrator with everything to scale. (and yes I doubled checked the math)

This is what I got. Looks pretty reasonable.

I am sooo happy this phone isn't some Note sized behemoth...

Awesome, thank you for this. Note 3 had my number, but now I have to wait to see if this comes to fruition!

Wow, and that comes in smaller than the current Nexus 4?

Amazing. Nice job, man.

So we think this is the next Nexus based on the large circular camera? Okay, but am I missing something or is it on the opposite side in the FCC pictures? Also, the phone in the video was clearly on the large side. Doesn't make sense. Maybe there will be multiple Nexii, or this isn't anything.

A lot doesn't add up. But there are also very clear reasons to believe this is the next nexus or at least one of them.

As usual time will tell. Exciting nonetheless for those interested in the next nexus.

I am so disappointed in that battery capacity. If this is going to be based on the LG G2, then why include a battery at such a lower capacity? The G2 has a 3000 mAh battery (right?) and this has only a 2300? This is quite pathetic.

Let's look at the Nexus 4. It has a 2100 mAh battery. No LTE, 720p display, smaller screen (less area for the backlight to cover), and an S4 Pro.

Now this new phone (presumably) has LTE, more pixels to power, larger area to give light to, and a Snapdragon 800. All that and not even a 10% battery improvement?!?!?! And don't give me any crap about Google doing software optimizations for the battery. History shows they don't do crap.

This is such a huge disappointment. Sure, I might be speaking too soon. But now a days rumors get fairly accurate. If this is true, Google really can't do anything without screwing it up in some way.

But yes, I will probably still get it :D

----------

And with the screen size keeping under 5", I do not expect Google to also release an updated Nexus 4.

----------

Maybe this time Google will actually include ear phones, you know, like all other phones do.

If this is priced similar to the Nexus 4, I might just get one of these. I love iOS but Google's push on all the cloud based Drive services really is starting to come together nicely. I've now got 4 google apps on my iPhone home screen and damn would I love to set them as defaults....

The FCC pictures show the underside of the back cover, so basically it will appear in reverse - it threw me off initially as well.

As for the size difference, maybe the pictures are of the revised Nexus 4, as opposed to the 5?

Might explain for the (relitively) small battery.
