I have released a method on how to install the Stock android browser without needing root. Previously you needed root. It has working chrome bookmark sync, flash support, text wrapping, and the ability to select a user agent.

Thanks for the info. Quick questions:

How would I uninstall it if I wanted to?

Does it have an auto-hide URL feature like Chrome?

----------

Wrong again. I can put a put a non retina MBP with a matte screen next to the rmbp and its the non retina MBP that will have less glare. Simple fact. You are wrong again.

But anyway the rMBP does have reduced glare when compared to another MBP with GLOSSY screen. I never denied that. But again that has nothing to do with "special" glass. How often do I have to repeat that?

Well sorry captain literal. I was talking about the difference between the default MBP and default rMBP. There is a difference in glare. Getting a matte screen on an older MBP was never default and was only a custom order option.

And the way Apple did the rMBP screen to reduce glare was indeed "special" if you compare it to all of their previous screens.

Uninstall it like any other app. You can uninstall the browser proxy provider thing by go to the all apps list in settings and clicking it and hit uninstall updates.

I'm so tempted to pick up an LTE version when they hit the streets. I just played with one at Best Buy and I loved it. I love my iPad mini, but I'm not going to buy it without retina and I'm hard pressed to justify $560 for the same device.

I have, however, been encoding some music using Apple Lossless. Do you have any tracks that you can try to see if they play on the N7? I had a GS3 for a short time last year but I can't remember if I ever got them working. I'm thinking no.

I'm still tempted by some of the Android phones, so I'm thinking trying out the N7 could give me a better feel for if I could get used to an Android phone. There were several features I really liked. The main things that bothered me were the color/white balance of the screen and some of the problems with my media, which is all in iTunes. I have an extensive library set up with playlists and smart playlists using play history, etc. I found iSyncr to work reliably, but still had some music that just wouldn't play.

Great review with some good information from someone with a history in iDevices.

Poweramp can play both apple lossless and FLAC.

BookmarksSyncAdapter and BrowserProviderProxy aren't showing up there :/

I was looking both at the Nexus 7 and at the iPad mini as eReaders mostly. You (the OP) mention that the extra inch on the iPad mini makes looking at websites much more pleasant. I was wondering about the reading experience. I felt that the iPad mini is too bulky to hold it in one hand comfortably, while the Nexus 7 seems to work fine.

You have to go under all apps. Not downloaded apps.

Ya it still wasn't showing up. But its not a big deal. I was having some total system crashes lately so I am doing a factory reset and starting over anyways.

For reading articles on Feedly or Pocket, I absolutely love the Nexus 7. The display is fantastic and the smaller screen size doesn't matter much in these applications. What matters is weight and thinness. And the Nexus 7 has both going for it. I think the main reason the Nexus 7 does so well with these applications is because they are not web browsers, but take web articles and eliminate the fluff. The same principle applies to a book, but even more so since there is no fluff to eliminate in the first place.

I have an iPad mini and a new Nexus 7.2

As a voracious reader of lots of ebooks I find there's a vast advantage in the gorgeous full HD display of the Nexus 7.2, it has an excellent 323 ppi rating vs the cheap low resolution iPad display at only 163 ppi.

Being lighter and a bit narrower, the Nexus also has the best ergonomics. I have big hands and still prefer the Nexus. Their are too many advantages to list. I am sure you'll really like the Nexus 7.2

I use my Nexus 7 (Gen 1) mainly for reading books, it replaced my Kindle and I don't regret the decision one bit. And of course you can do more with it than you can a Kindle eReader.

It is a great size and weight so I would say go for it.

I am not upgrading (yet) because for my usage I don't see a huge advantage, the gen 1 screen is fine for reading.

great info, now i'll definitely wait till the release of ipad mini 2 to see which device is better, there's also a chance for the samsung galaxy tab 3

right, got enough info from these reviews, and i've decided to go for the new nexus 7, if i like the device i might also post a review about it. fingers crossed:D.

Excellent review!

Also thanks to arbogast for that comparison shot – nails the point in 4:3 vs. 16:9.

I just got the tablet myself and do far my impressions are lukewarm. I too play blitz brigade allot and am disappointed that it's not compatible with the new 7 but it seems to be compatible with the old one. I guess welcome to Android. Sucks that I got the latest greatest and am unable to run all the apps. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

Nope many popular games don't work on new devices. I have quite a few in my app section of google play that can't be downloaded on my S4 or previous HTC One.
