HTC will produce two Nexus handsets this year ?
http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-will-produce-two-Nexus-handsets-this-year_id77513

According to a tipster who posted on Weibo, the troubled company will be producing a pair of Nexus handsets in 2016. While not much information about the new models has been revealed, we are told that one of the new phones will feature a 5-inch screen while the other one will come with a 5.5-inch display.

Purely rumors for now, especially this early in the game, guess we'll have to wait and see. But lately Google has kept the same Nexus phone manufacturer for two years in a row ( Samsung, LG, Asus, etc...), so I am surprised that Huawei isn't automatically getting the Nexus-N this Fall ?

It's a bit too early to believe this. Perhaps they have been approached to produce a concept for Google but i doubt its past that stage ... Likewise given the Nexus 9 build quality issues - HTC don't have a great track record for Nexus devices right now. File this one in the "I'll believe it when i see it" drawer ...

Oh my, HTC?

I think we all know HTC is going to go all out this year, though. After the last few years, I expect them to drastically redesign their devices. It'd be an interesting year.

This please. Samsung makes the best Android hardware...time to pair it with the best software (in my personal opinion).

Will never see it. I highly doubt Samsung and Google would ever partner up again on a Nexus phone. Samsung is too large, they have their Galaxy line, they promote heavily, and almost trying to make people think the Galaxy line is an all Samsung thing, nothing to do with Google or Android.

Yeah I would love to see Samsung make a 5.3" sized or so Nexus-N, with the best AMOLED display, and their new build quality, shaped like the Galaxy Nexus, and running the best hardware. But I just don't think it will ever happen.

I was hoping for a phone manufactured by the Pixel team. That way it would be 100% Google designed, like the iPhone is 100% Apple designed. Google hardware, Google software, even Google internals, as Google are said to be working on their own SoCs. That would be killer.

I think it is in the works. The nexus line and a pixel phone can coexist imo. The pixel phone would probably be 650-700.

Regarding the rumour, I doubt it is true. I don't see Google going from 6 inches to 5.7 then to 5.5 inches.

What I see as a possibility is Google switching from lg to htc for the smaller nexus. While hauwei gets the nod for the bigger one. Both being all metal.

Android on Tablets is wrong with the Pixel C. I would rather Google fix the Android tablet situation before it refocuses its effort on internal phone hardware development.

I agree, but the Pixel team is responsible for the hardware, and they absolutely nailed it in that area. Shrink it down and combine it with the phone software and we've got ourselves a killer phone.

Doubt that. Like the 6p and 5x, Google will more likely manage the camera department. Highly doubt they will take a step back in the new phones.
Thats a good point. But what HTC camera can you point that gets great reviews?

My how opinions have changed, just last year when this rumor was floating around people were excited about the possibility of another HTC Nexus.

yeah...you're right. I think at that time what Huawei could produce was relatively unknown then. But I think they did a great job on the N6P. I am also sure HTC would do a great job as well. My only concern is the camera. HTC has had some great phones starting with the M7 through the M9 and have not been able to get the camera right imho.
