yeah...you're right. I think at that time what Huawei could produce was relatively unknown then. But I think they did a great job on the N6P. I am also sure HTC would do a great job as well. My only concern is the camera. HTC has had some great phones starting with the M7 through the M9 and have not been able to get the camera right imho.
Yeah, The camera really has been their Achilles heal. I hope they can figure it out before it's too late.

Thats a good point. But what HTC camera can you point that gets great reviews?
None. My point is Google will manage the camera department. HTC wouldn't have much say in the sense of what sensor is used or what software. Hence I don't think it matters if HTC cameras have been poor in the past.

New Nexus phones from HTC? Evidence starts to grow

Has Google partnered with HTC to make the next generation of Nexus smartphones? A second leak this week seems to suggest the rumors might really be true. According to Twitter tipster @LlabTooFeR, who specializes in HTC leaks, the Taiwanese phone-maker may be working on two potential Nexus phones codenamed T50 and T55. That lines up with an earlier claim that the new phone will come in 5-inch and 5.5-inch variants.

I hope you're right. HTC could use the boost Huawei is getting from the 6P.

I am surprised that we are getting next gen Nexus phone leaks so early in January. The phone is like 8 or 9 months away from release, typical Nexus leaks don't start till like May or later.

Either this is all BS, or could the Nexus-N phone have an earlier release date this year ?

I'd wager closer to BS ...

It could however not be a mobile at all and be a new Nexus tablet, one with Wifi, one with cellular explaining two different product codes...

I wonder if Google would really want to come down in size from the N6P. The 6P is really a great size, especially with its thinness.

So do we still think HTC is the Nexus phone manufacturer this year ? Or will Huawei still be the one ?

I'd like to see it shrunk down, to the size of the Note 5.

The Nexus 6p is a beautiful piece of hardware and all around great phone. It is the first android phone that I can't seem to find one thing that I prefer on the iphone. Project Fi helps here, since it all but eliminates the advantages of imessage for myself.

Whoever makes it, just keep the price in the same affordable range, the hardware nice, and keep the camera up to standards. Beyond that....I don't really care who makes the phone.

I was disappointed to hear Hauwei was making the Nexus 6p, and now I own and love it. Lesson learned.

I think it's still too early for rumours, but I'm still keeping my hopes up for a Pixel phone. I'm a big fan of the Pixel C aesthetics, if they can bring that to a phone, it would be a luxury.

I wonder what the weight and thickness of this phone will be if they've added a bigger battery and waterproofing. Maybe that's what the rumor meant when it says there will be no camera hump. The phone just got thicker.

I'm okay with this.

EDIT: This was meant for the S7 thread. My bads!

Well the Mate 8 has a 4000 mAh battery, 6 inch screen and is still lighter than the 6s plus. The current 6p is 7.3 mm thick, same as iphone 6s plus too. Make it 8.0 mm and shove a 4000 mAh with a much more power efficient processor than the 810 and we have a 2-3 day phone.

That's the dream bud.

We don't have any details at this point, the phone is still 6+ months away. Not even sure if HTC is making the Nexus-N phone ?

We have no idea if the phone got thicker, it's probably a whole new design. And waterproof ? Way too early to speculate. Haven't heard anything about that on a Nexus, but sure it might happen.

The next Nexus will probably tell us a lot more about Google's plans. I would imagine they're still going with the Snapdragon 820 this time around (unless Samsung makes one Nexus, but I doubt it). Other than that, we will see whether or not the next manufacturer has as much, the same, or less freedom than Huawei. The Nexus 6 (arguably the worst recent Nexus) was done mostly by Motorola and Google did little to control the then Google owned Moto design. The 6P appears to be a lot more Google centric and the OS is clearly the star with a standardized fingerprint reader on the back.
