I don't think Google needs to go that far and design their own processor, when they can ask Qualcomm, nVidia and Intel to build their hardware.
The question is whether or not Google gets around to designing their own chip. At this point, they have only been using the existing infrastructure for its chips.
From what I have heard the hardware is to notch. It's just that Android needs some optimization and features like split screen multitasking for tablets running stock Android. So no HTC then, that means?
Maybe a good thing.
Though I don't know if I'm ready to commit to a Google made device in its first year. Is the Pixel C well received?

The available chips on the market. As of yet, there is no evidence to suggest that Google has an existing agreement with any chip manufacturer to build google-specific chipsWhat do you mean by existing infrastructure?
Report: Nexus 5X And 6P Not Meeting Sales Goals
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...ware-nexus-5x-and-6p-not-meeting-sales-goals/
My opinion
The 6P and 5X not reaching sales goals ? No ****, because they're not sold in Carrier stores this time. If the iPhone 7 is only sold on the Apple website for $700, no payment plan, you betcha ass sales will suck and be way down. If Google wants sales, they need to put it on all major carriers, BUT ALSO advertise the crap out of it like no tomorrow, and have promotions for it in the stores.
But just throwing it up on the Google website, and saying, her we have a phone we're selling, just give us $600 and it's yours. No **** Sherlock it's not selling well.

I would love to see samsung nexus phone.....This is what Google should do. Partner with the best hardware, Samsung, and make it so when you boot into safe mode it runs Google AOSP Android. For tablet, partner with Microsoft and offer a Surface Pro 4 and Surface 3 running dual-boot or simultaneous dual-OS Windows and Android. Nadella has already shown that he's willing to work with Google.

You don't remember the Galaxy Nexus? It wasn't that long ago.
It was 5 years ago. Samsung and Android have changed a lot since then.
The GPE program was great while it lasted.....Samsung released three Nexus phones; Nexus-S, Galaxy Nexus, and Galaxy S4 GPE
Is too bad Google stopped the GPE program, would love to see GPE based phones like the S7, and G5 this Spring, those flagship phones running stock vanilla Android, directly supported by Google, and sold through carrier plans.
I like the way Samsung does the physical buttons, they don't make the handset bigger and doesn't take up screen real estate. I just wish they would put the back button on the correct side.Yeah, I guess so. Still feels like yesterday. It was such a massive screen back in the day. And we got ICS on AT&T. But the phone itself was pretty meh. Camera, battery life... all pretty much garbage.
But another Samsung Nexus won't happen any time soon. Samsung likes their physical buttons. Samsung sounds like they are bring back the SD card. Google is obviously against all that in their vision. Samsung is doing just fine and I don't see what would be in it for them. They certainly wouldn't make a phone that would outshine their allstars.
Yeah, the best part was having a gpe rom to convert your oem branded handset.I do remember but I never had that phone.

agreed! the front facing speakers on the 6p are awesome. Like to have those on the S7I lied the way Samsung does the physical buttons, they don't make the handset bigger and doesn't take up screen real estate. I just wish they would put the back button on the correct side.
Now if only they can find away to also include front facing speakers.
yeah I remember unlocking my S3 and S4 and flashing a GPE rom....ah...the good ole days!Yeah, the best part was having a gpe rom to convert your oem branded handset.
After this report, any chance T-Mobile starts carrying the Nexus 6P ? Something similar did happen with the Nexus-S and Galaxy Nexus like 6 months after release.
