What about using 3D Touch as a touch pad? The iPhone allows people to swipe through text while 3D pressing texts or other blocks.

Yeah but I assume in this instance of taller for example or scrolling a website using 3D Touch would be moribund as you would be touching the screen anyway.

Whereas if you used the fingerprint scanner (on back of device) as a mini trackpad you could scroll gallery and and websites without touching screen at all.

But regarding 3D Touch, the keyboard cursor control is my favourite use for it

Yeah, saw that as well. Personally, I dislike the white front bezels, such a harsh construct to the display and in both this case and on iPhones, shows how pronounced those bezels are. I much prefer my frost white Nexus 6P with the black front.

If course, just my preferences. If I do get one, will absolutely be the black model.

Bezels are the same or less than the iPhone and the S7. Neither of which have exactly flopped. I don't think a majority of users see this as an issue.

I don't think it will flop due to it's bezels, I just think they are fugly and date the phone to 2012 even though it's coming out in 2016. No, I think Googles odd strategy on this one will cause it to flop. But really Google probably doesn't care, if someone doesn't buy the Pixel they will most probably buy another Android phone and fit into their advertising model.

That's a shame, no surprise specs or features which I was hoping for to exonerate Google. The biggest announcement seems to be the free photo storage. Micro SD card is nice, if that's not a mistake. Allo as a selling point, hilarious and sad at the same time. But there is no way something that looks like a clone of a Chinese clone phone will command iPhone prices. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

After looking at those images, it really does look like an iPhone where the home button decided to just migrate to the upper back section.

Obviously you have already decided this is a busy which is ridiculous. You are likely just trying to juatify buying a Samsung and justify your personal comprise there. But quit dragging it down for the rest of it where Google is giving us everything we wanted here.

And unless it's Super AMOLED Plus it will be inferior to what Samsung is using for the S7. Pentile on the S4 was noticeable at 1080 while it isn't noticeable at all on the S7 at 1440.

I agree about the bezels being a compromise. They appear to be twice the size of the bezels of the S7. I hate large bezels with no purpose. A lot of people are complaining about the bezel size.

I'm sort of in the same predicament. I have a 7 plus currently as I just sold my 6s Plus to my friend. I do not have the Apple Watch at this point, but I'm close to taking the plunge. I have a MacBook Pro (Feb 2011), an iPad, and an Apple TV 4. I really like the "stock" Android feel as I've owned (at least for a few days) all the Nexii since the 4. I loved my Nexus 5 and then got a Oneplus One and liked that as well. I didn't so much care for the Nexus 6 (hated the display and the sheer size - width) so it went back. I also had a 6P, which I didn't really like the build quality all that much, so that also went back. I'm hoping that this Pixel or Pixel XL will be proper build quality and be a keeper. I think this will be a phone where there are no corners cut - Display included. I don't mind shelling out as long as it warrants the cost (Build Quality, Display, etc, etc). I'd still like to know what the top portion is going to be used for. It has to be something like wireless charging or some sort of gesture pad. I'm sure it would have been leaked by now, though...Can't wait to see what Google's Presentation will be like.

You fail to see a bigger picture if you are hung up on an extra mm of bezel or SMS integration. If you would like to have a discussion of how Allo and Google assistant are the future of messaging that would be great. But I won't start with it sucks ass. Use it for a month. Understand SMS has no purpose in the application. It isn't thankfully trying to be iMessage. But that is all you can see it as.

Actually if the leaks are accurate the screen to body ratio is actually better, ie smaller bezels, than the S7. But we will see for real soon enough.

That really really really really really looks like Google's version of an iPhone. I think they've had enough and are basically just gunning for Apple now.

2 crucial things:

HOW GOOD IS THE CAMERA?

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Nail those two things and the world is yours, Google.

The camera aperture - is that 2.0? Hmmmmmm.....

Thank god it's got a headphone jack, and on the top as well (where I prefer it).

Battery looks fine.

Screen looks fine to me, should help battery life too.

Still unclear whether or not there is that micro-SD?

But if they are charging iPhone prices, then I'm out already. Would rather pick up an S7 or S7 Edge.

I don't understand the obsession with bezels. The XL is barely larger than the Nexus 5X and has a .3 inch bigger screen. It's also smaller than the 7 Plus and has the same size screen. I'm sorry but I don't get where the freak out comes in. I'd prefer to have somewhere to hold the phone without constantly touching the screen. As long as it's done right, bezels can serve a bit of a purpose.
