^ re: camera. Seems to be videos giving the win to the Google pixel and then some to the iPhone 7 (and sometimes S7). I think it just shows how much Google has improved it's camera experience that it's now at least rubbing shoulders with the best smartphone cameras. Given where they started from, that's a significant improvement.

FWIW - the pixel is quickly turning into the android device I've wanted for years. Flagship stock android but with fixes for some older quirks of stock android, plus finally a great camera. I can actually see myself using this device for a good while and it's not very often i feel that with my android devices. But this one feels like it's going to quell my thirst.

And posts like this are also pushing me further into the Pixels open arms :D

I get what you're saying though completely. I could buy an HTC10 or Xperia XZ, but I know it's not going to be the best version of Android, even with Nougat etc.
And all I will do is get tired of that device and just want the Pixel more.
I think it's going to happen - just figuring out how!

Don't agree. The iPhone definitely blows the pixel away in videos. Pixel usually wins in the pictures.

I have both so makes no difference to me ;)
And you also have the HTC-10. Doesn't the audio capabilities of the HTC-10 impress you over and above the IPhone and Pixel in any way or do you feel it doesn't weigh in that significantly overall?

How about your Honor 8 against the Pixel, dollar for dollar?

The audio from the headphone jack is better, but given I'm not listening to 24bit audio files personally I'm OK with the audio from the pixel and iPhone 7. I am actually using the hi-res audio headphones that came with the HTC 10 on my other devices and they all sound good. The HTC does however have the ability to drive much higher impedance headphones, but in day to day usage that doesn't ever factor in for me ....

Most of my audio I just download directly from Google Play Music on all my devices and I'm sure that has compression anyway.

If there are deals this Black Friday or for the Xmas season, I may not be able to resist picking one up after all.

However, I have a feeling Google won't be offering any sort of discounts. Maybe promotional goods or freebies or expedited shipping or something along those lines, but probably not actual price discounts.

I am pretty much a stickler when it comes to audio quality with a smartphone, it outweighs the camera quality. The 10 has to be amongst the best for audio quality, so much so that I use it extensively over other smartphones I have for music. I am talking strictly with Bluetooth or ear/headphones.

Most can get by with the quality of the audio through headphones nowadays. Pretty impressive with lots of smartphones I own. It depends as you mentioned how much a factor it is for an individual.

For me if one is really involved with photography, I would say standalone cameras would be the way to go. I know the cost is more but probably worth it if one is that involved.

The 32gb Nexus 6p never gets discounted much, I know we are talking Hauwei though. With the newness of the Pixels and them being sold out from time to time on the store, I doubt they would be discounted so early in the game.

I am loving how my Pixel Xl sits flat on my desk.....no camera bump to make it wobble.
Hopefully other phone makers will follow this design. I mean if Google can put a great camera in the Pixel with no bump....others should be able to as well.
Yeah you don't notice the slight tapering at the back (device is thinner at bottom compared to top) but the benefit of no camera hump it brings with that tapering is very appreciated ...

Lol. This forum is terrible for temptation.

It really is. To be fair, I'd had a bad day in work and had been tempting myself all day with it haha. So at the end of the day thought, why not. Terrible reasoning in hindsight, but it happened haha.

Where are you? How are you getting it shipped so quickly?

And congrats :)

Thanks! And I'm in the UK. Ordered it from CPW. Was going to pick one up on Saturday when I was in work as we have 2 white/silver 32gb's in and I doubt they'll be sold by then, but went with online as I get (what is effectively) cash back ordering through a corporate perk site. I've rinsed this recently what with the Note 7 then iPhone now this. :D
Order before 8pm and it delivers tomorrow next day. Already had my DPD app update!

Was going to buy outright, but I've done a second contract as I get 30% off o2 line rental, so on a £31.50 contract it ends up £22-ish. Which I can't complain with!

Now that is funny. Made me laugh. Thank you.

Ha, glad it raised a smile! Dat temptation was too strong. :)

First proper day and have 5.5 hours SOT with 10% remaining.

Fantastic for a 2700 mAh battery. The 1080p screen clearly making the smaller pixel last as long as the pixel XL despite its bigger battery.

So what cases are one and all using with their Pixel / Pixel XL's?

I have ordered a LK Ultra slim TPU skin in 'Mint' as I think it'll look pretty good with the white / silver.
I love my black 7 Plus, but I find I'm limited for cases with it as it's black. White and silver means I can go wild with cases and covers :p.

Arriving tomorrow. Might pick up the official Google one too from CPW tomorrow, but read bad things on it.
I checked it with staff discount and its £10, so may be worth picking up for that reduced cost. We also do Zagg Pixel screen protectors so may pop one of them on too.

Oh and an extra cable for the car to make use of 3 for 2. :D
