Yeah I have a similar style case on my 7 Plus and it lasts about 3 weeks before I feel the need to change it as it gets so grubby.

Must be the type of material?

Is the official one a hard plastic or does it have a rubber touch?

So what cases are one and all using with their Pixel / Pixel XL's?

I have ordered a LK Ultra slim TPU skin in 'Mint' as I think it'll look pretty good with the white / silver.
I love my black 7 Plus, but I find I'm limited for cases with it as it's black. White and silver means I can go wild with cases and covers :p.

Arriving tomorrow. Might pick up the official Google one too from CPW tomorrow, but read bad things on it.
I checked it with staff discount and its £10, so may be worth picking up for that reduced cost. We also do Zagg Pixel screen protectors so may pop one of them on too.

Oh and an extra cable for the car to make use of 3 for 2. :D

I got a cheap PULSON clear case and two pack of tempered protectors from Amazon.

I have designed several live cases on their little creation tool but I couldn't make myself actually buy one at those prices without knowing if they are any good.

And now I definitely won't because my red HTC 10 is due to arrive tomorrow already. I haven't cancelled my Pixel preorder but if the HTC puts in a good showing, I might and put the money I'll save toward a camcorder. I DO want a Pixel and the whole VR thing, but I'm not sure if I want it all now or wait for generation 2. I'll figure it all out soon enough. :D

I was looking at LK cases, too--for the HTC. Apparently that is what HTC gave away to some lucky purchasers as a thank you gift for buying the 10. They're really desperate to drum up a consumer base I guess. I hope making Pixels for Google keeps them afloat. I think, though, that I might go with a Ballistic clear TPU for awhile.

For the Pixel, I am not sure what I'd get. It has to have a good solid back to protect the glass back portion against light bumps. When I do hard work I think I might have to go for a holster, too, after the way I whacked my poor SE on the back with a shovel handle when I was digging up a stubborn dead bush. The SE was fine thanks to a good cheap TPU case.

I have tried some cases with smartphones I have owned but generally just keep it on only if the phone is too slippery whereby I would feel uncomfortable handling it. No problem with my HTC 10, it remains naked.

I am using a Rhinoshield screen protector, for someone as inept as me, it was easy to fit and has no bubbles or dust, looks invisible and the touches and swipes work as if the screen was uncovered.

I also got the bumper, tis a tight fit but seems to work well.

I'm still looking for a good tempered glass protector - seems like most of the early/current ones are not great.

In other news, the battery on my XL seems to be getting better. In the same work scenario, by then end of the work day, an S6 would be down to 20%, the 6P at 35%-40, yet the XL ends with 75%+ remaining.

Have you guys tried the Zagg screen protectors?
Carphonewarehouse are selling them for the Pixel and we sell truck loads of them with iPhones. People swear by them.

You get a life time warranty with them so if ever they crack or peel or start going horrid just peel it off, stick it to a piece of paper, send it to them and they send a brand new one out to you.

I have toyed with the idea of one for my 7 Plus and will be tempted to get one for Pixel, but I just don't like screen protectors.

I bought a two-pack of clear TPU cases for $3 and the dreadful but serviceable Spigen Crystal PET film screen protector for the HTC 10 to protect it through the 30 days I get to evaluate it.

Thanks for letting me know the phone is grippy enough and does well enough bare.

If I keep it permanently, I'll probably let it go bare since it would not be traded in to AT&T on Next or sold or passed along to family members, so I may as well enjoy my very first bright red smartphone. But when I'm working outdoors, it's going in a rugged case of some sort. That's what I do with my SE. Most of the time it's bare or in a decorative case. When I'm working outside it is in some thick TPU cases. I got a bunch really cheap off of Amazon via Slick Deals. I know from experience with my 5s that the SE can do pretty well caseless. I keep a screen protector on it though. That flat display lets me use a really nice tempered glass one that I never even notice.

Once the return period is up on the HTC I'll rip off the screen protector since it is going to be horrible and I have the Uh Oh protection for a year.

I think they would be okay on LCD screens but on my s7Edge AMOLED they make the display look very faintly pixelated like an LCD screen. Mine is a film not a tempered glass. I never had one before.

I've had other film screen protectors on my iPhone 6SPlus. They are fine on that display. But I don't think film plays well with AMOLED.

Well I'm dropping out of the Pixel club. I had to cancel my order, ironically when the status finally moved from preorder to pending. I went out to take care of a feral kitty family awhile ago and found one of them unconscious. :( I just came back from the vet where he has been admitted. We don't know what's wrong. He doesn't have any outward signs of trauma or broken bones or poisoning and his siblings seem fine. It's going to be a biggggg vet bill. I've been trying to trap him and his sisters for awhile now. We already took care of his mama. The organization I work in tandem with pays for spaying and neutering and rabies shots. Everything else is on me since I found these guys on my own.

I can't even bring myself to care about the Pixel right now. And my HTC 10 is due in tomorrow evening, so no whining from me, as that would be pretty exciting, if not for this going on.

I would have liked to have done a hands on comparison between the Pixel and the HTC, but I'll be back for generation 2. Meanwhile I'll live the Pixel experience vicariously through this thread. I hope to see some VR commentary when y'all get your goggles!

Take care, have a safe and happy weekend my friends. I'll be hanging around since I'm not much good for anything while I wait for the vet to call and tell me something. My whole family is depressed.

Here's my little buddy. I have never seen him this close up before. To tell the truth I'm not completely sure he's actually a he. He likes me and seems always happy to see me but I can get only so close, usually.

Thank you. I'm just waiting for some news.

How's it going with your new Pixel so far?
It's v. good, size wise it's just about right for me. I like the pixel launcher, though do wish the app drawer could either made dark or an option to remove the app drawer entirely.

That is something I was wondering about. On my Samsung's I can make just about any aspect of my screen view dark. I applied a dark black cat theme overall from the Samsung theme store. It came with icon packs and I also applied a pure wallpaper. So my app drawer is black.

On the Pixels, is this level of customization not possible? Was that all from the Touchwiz skin?

Edit to add: Kitty has some sort of infection. It could be FIP which would be fatal. We lost a much beloved cat adopted from the shelter this time of the year, a few years ago. That would be horrific to experience again so we are hoping and praying it's not that.

No stock has very limited customisation. I don't want much, just a darker app drawer.

Sorry to hear about the Kitty's infection. :(

That's great! I hope you enjoy your phone. If it went from pending to processing that quickly it's a good thing I acted fast to cancel my order. I pulled out my SE and cancelled as soon as I got the kitty secured as you see him in the photo. I felt weird taking time from such a moment to tend to business like that, but I took one look at the situation and knew I was in for it with the vet bills and had to get that $892 freed up fast. I've been through things like this more than once before.

@MRU I am a little bummed out I won't get a chance to find out just yet what almost stock Android can and can't do. I was very curious about what Assistant being at your beck and call would be like. I've got things set up on my Samsung to work as closely as possible to mimic the Pixel setup.

Today is going to be a weird day. I'm going to be waiting on progress news from the vet and waiting to sign for the HTC 10. AND trying to catch the rest of the cat family to get them to the vet, too. I've known them all since they were kittens. It took me a year and a half to make friends with their mother. I used to have to look at her through binoculars! I've trudged through snow up to my chest to take food and water to her. It's nerve wracking to catch them and I'm glad my husband will be doing this, too. We wish we could just throw Pokeballs at them! The funny thing about all this is that I'm allergic to cats and most dogs. I take allergy medicine and clean a lot. I have a rescued cat who is allergic to herself! Getting that sorted was a lot of vet visits, too.

So switched to Action Launcher 3 again so I can get a dark app drawer.

That looks great! I do love the dark look. I have my SE and my S7Edge done up like that. Of course it doesn't conserve battery on the SE like it does for the Edge. But it looks good.

Update: Kitty passed peacefully in his sleep. He had a perforated bowel likely from eating something he shouldn't, but it could have been FIP. We can't know without a necropsy which would be expensive and still possibly inconclusive. I'll be trying to catch the rest of his family today. They will be vetted then released back out where I will continue to care for them along with occasional help.
