Hi
Thanks, appreciate it, so the Pixel wont speak for a notification it just pops up on screen.
Wonder what Google Home does?
No she didn't speak it, just notification sound and then the notice appears on lock screen and notification drawer.

Ah.
I was thinking it might get more, in the same way that the iPhone Plus models get better (in my experience) battery life than the 4.7" versions.

Yeah but with the iPhone 4.7 you get only a 1900mAh and the Plus goes to just below 2,900mAh which is a much bigger jump than

2770 of the pixel (nearly as much as the iPhone 7 plus) and the 3450 of the Pixel XL.

Also a QHD screen will use more power than a 1080p screen also :)

I'm an iOS user and I've got large, high res photos for all of my contacts.

If I were to switch to the Google Pixel, is there a way to transfer my iOS contacts to the Pixel and still keep the contact photos for everyone? I tried the vCard method of importing my iOS contacts into my Gmail account and the photos did not transfer.

Thanks.

Has anyone tried opening a .mov file with their Pixel? Mine won't open one from Dropbox. I downloaded it to my phone and it still wont open it. It doesn't seem to recognise the file format. My V20 and OPO3 can play the same .mov file from Dropbox but not my Pixel.
[doublepost=1478494125][/doublepost]I found a USB type C dock for my Pixel that I really like a lot. It is adjustable and will fit most cases...

I'll try now.

Works fine if you have VLC installed and you default to open them with VLC, but they don't play inside Google Photos app.

Thanks MRU for trying that for me! Weird that Nougat won't play .mov files even when I DL them to the device it doesn't recognise the file format. I will install VLC. Thanks :)

I was just over on Android Central reading. (I just registered there as GrumpyMomofMacR since there apparently already is a GrumpyMom there though I've never seen her). There is a rumor there that the Pixels are coming to AT&T soon. If that's true, I can get one by trading in my 6SPlus sometime after our upcoming holiday spending is managed.

I'm not sure I'm going to do the trade because I already have an S7Edge and am putting my HTC 10 on the line my SE/6Splus are on. I am still testing the HTC in preparation for making it my primary phone. So far it has impressed me that much.

But if the 6SPlus is not doing that much I may as well upgrade it to the Pixel if the DayDream VR is a hit. Anyway it's not something I'm in a big hurry to do.

Barring any unforeseen problems with the HTC 10 that might turn up as I test it on my secondary line, I'm planning on keeping it. I don't know that I see an upgrade path with HTC the way I do with Samsung, IPhones and Google, but this particular phone has won me over and I hope it serves me well the entire year it's warranted. Beyond that year, I'm keeping it as the best music player I've ever owned.

I'll say, at least for a smartphone. :)

So much so a UK HiFi magazine actually did an article on the HTC 10's audio section, both through headphones and external speaker and how it was the best smartphone ever for its quality.

Not gonna lie....seems strange the GS7 already has the November security update but my Pixel is still on October.
jamezr are you using the Pixel on AT&T? From what I'm seeing it looks like the newest OTA update/build is hitting devices on Verizon's network first.

I am on T-Mobile with my Pixel. I saw on XDA that the Nov security update is live...but it just hasn't hit me yet. Probably today or tomorrow.

Check and see if theres an update to Google Play Services. It seems some people are receiving the update after updating.

Thanks! No updates available. Everything is current. I am sure it will rollout soon.

"In the end, the Pixel XL is a decent enough phone, but it is not the ultimate Android phone that people were likely hoping for. It fails to stand out in a crowded market and cannot claim to be the best in any single category; at best it is a jack of all trades. This is a serious problem for a phone that is positioned as and priced like a flagship phone. It also does not help that it’s missing support for microSD cards and wireless charging (it does support the USB Power Delivery specification for 18W fast charging), features that are available on the Galaxy S7 edge. There’s also no environmental protection against water and dust, which both the S7 edge and iPhone 7 Plus include. Even its exclusive software feature, Google Assistant, should be available on future Android phones. In the end, the Pixel XL is a Nexus phone with another name. It still delivers a pure Android experience and timely software and security updates, but is that enough to justify its flagship price?"

I'm using a Verizon Pixel and received the update last night. However, my gf's Pixel (also on Verizon) has not received it yet.

That looks great! I do love the dark look. I have my SE and my S7Edge done up like that. Of course it doesn't conserve battery on the SE like it does for the Edge. But it looks good.

Update: Kitty passed peacefully in his sleep. He had a perforated bowel likely from eating something he shouldn't, but it could have been FIP. We can't know without a necropsy which would be expensive and still possibly inconclusive. I'll be trying to catch the rest of his family today. They will be vetted then released back out where I will continue to care for them along with occasional help.

Well if I could play it I would dedicate Peace Piece to kitty.

Be that as it may, I will leave that great jazz composition in the rightful hands of Bill Evans. While you listen to it and think of kitty, better have the hanky ready. Peace Piece.

It was matching an OnePlus 3 in performance tests and Galaxy S7 overall seemed to produce a much better result out of nearly the same hardware . Not impressed
