I saw the Pixel in Best Buy yesterday, I thought it looked horrible when compared to some other phones(appearances only)

Still no love here. I'm on build number NDE63H

I assume they are rolling them out to each different variation and then pushing via IMEI. Hopefully should arrive sooner rather than later :)

I don't mind its appearance now, its actually grown on me.

I'm also one of the few who has no issues with the top and bottom bezel sizes as they give me perfect purchase when holding device in landscape (just as I don't on the iPhone). With my S7 whether its because I'm left handed and the rotation i would automatically use, I do occasionally find myself accidentally tapping the recents or back button when holding it in landscape.

Wholeheartedly agree...... I was a big critic of the design at first. The early renders did not really do it justice.
But this phone is one of the best if not the best Android phone I have used.
One of the best designed phones to actually hold and use in the hand.

Google did a great job designing this phone. From the tapered design to the size shape and location of the FP scanner...this phone is a joy to use.

It is better than the sum of its parts. I would rate it right next to the iphone in terms of ease of use and feel in the hand.
Google did a great job of blending hardware and software with the Pixel.......terms I used to use only for the iphone to be honest.

I'm a leftie, too. I have the same problem! Sometimes the smart case helps mitigate that a little. It depends.

Finally joining the Pixel club myself. It's a second line, used for work. I have a 7+ as my personal line. I have to say, this thread has been so civil and helpful! I am glad to have a good resource (I am definitely new to Android). Thanks all for your feedback and suggestions.

Hi,

I'm looking to change my iPhone 6 to Google Pixel but I need an information for that:

How is the audio quality of the Pixel compared to Apple's iPhones (5,6(s) and 7)?

After a week of use I can honestly say the Pixel has become my favourite android smartphone I've ever owned. I don't say that likely.

As Jamezr and others have said, the Pixel is more than the sum of its parts. It feels as smooth and as hassle free in day to day operation as the iPhone. It's the closest experience across both platforms I've ever had.

The build quality is fantastic, the design is much better in person and actually feels lovely in the hand. Performance has been fantastic. Had no overtly hot moments where the device has inexplicably warmed up and for the very first time Android Software across the board for me has felt consistent. Performance wise and battery wise so far it's all been utterly consistent and that was something we used to associate more with iOS and we had grown to expect hiccups, occasional bouts of heat and throttling and inconsistent and random battery life. Where the pixel seems to correct this.

It's just fluid and solid. Yes it is very expensive and I think Google's limited release and pricing is a bit of a mistake as it will prevent more users from experiencing the device and Android as Google intended Android to be. That being said, no regrets buying here.

For once and this is very rare for me to say, I feel I have an Android keeper (at least till the Pixel 2) and won't be jumping ship every few weeks like I have been doing for last number of years.

Highly impressed overall.

Any instances of home screen refreshing that Anandtech describes?

We did experience some issues with Android 7 and Pixel Launcher, however. Occasionally, the phone would stall, and it even locked up once. Pixel Launcher also has an annoying tendency to be evicted from RAM, resulting in a blank home screen until it can reload. There’s really no excuse for this behavior, and it gives the phone an unpolished feel.

I've had none and I have had no issues with ram management either. The only time I have seen home screen refresh is changing display scaling in settings which adjusts icon size and spacing so would obviously require the homescreen to refresh, but outside of that never on mine ......

I personally have not had that issue.....
I really feel as MRU said...the Pixel is as smooth as my iphone. It is the best user experience on an Android phone so far for me.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I'm three weeks in with the XL and have absolutely zero regrets. It does everything I need and has proved incredibly reliable in terms of camera with ridiculously good battery underpinned by rock solid buttery smooth performance. Who cares if the 821 is underclocked when it's this good?

Sure I could have paid £5 a month less and £80 less up front but I'd always be eyeing the Pixel up. Worth the extra for me.

Just got confirmation Daydream is on the way.

I'm an iPhone owner but am intrigued by the Pixel. One of the main things that appeals to me is the customization available on Anroid. I've never taken the plunge, but the Pixel is tempting me.

I'd be intrigued to see some screenshots etc from Pixel owners of homescreens/lockscreens etc with customizable bits on them.

I keep mine simple. I've actually increased the icon size in display settings from 5 columns to 4 so icons are now same size on my iPhone 7 and pixel.

I have one screen other than the Google now screen and minimal widgets.

Received my November update as well, which was about 860MB in size and took quite a bit to install. I went from build NDE63N to NDE63V.

Just passed out after reading this...

Pixel (or Pixel 2) will 90% be my next phone, unless Samsung pull something out of the hat for the S8 or Note 2017, and I'd never discount the next iPhone.

But pretty sure Pixel would make me happiest day to day but I can really see 2017 being an incredibly year for smartphones.
