Why though. You have a team struggling to make the playoffs so you bring back a guy who struggled to get to the playoffs?

Last tenure, he took the Sabres to the Cup finals.

Besides, I always believed its still the players (and thus, the GM who gets them) and not coach that determines playoff success. We had one of the all time great coaches, Scotty Bowman, who won cups with other teams, but never did with the Sabres.

That was 1999. No wonder I couldn't remember it. Well, good luck, even though I think the Sabres could have benefited by going with a younger coach.

The NHL is back and instead of starting a new thread, might as well jump this one back up. I wish there were more NHL fans here. Once the NHL starts, I lose interest in Baseball. Ironically once MLB starts, I lost some interest in Hockey. That only means one thing for me. Both seasons are too long.

Hopefully Montreal makes the playoffs this season but I am not betting the farm. I was pleased to see they took a chance on Patrik Laine but he is now gone for at least three months with a knee injury.

Things I learned today, Patrick Laine is a Montreal Canadian. They had a pretty good game on Wednesday against the Leafs.
