Who has ordered it? What is the quality like?

Having a hard time justifying the $160 right now.

Also, does GCL only work on Verizon for mobile phones?

I've been looking forward to getting the NHL on ATV2. I had no idea it would be $160. What is the cost for MLB and NBA?

the price is the same as the Product the NHL sells-

all the Apple TV does is give you a means to watch it-the price is the same if you watch it on your computer, PS3, iOS device, ect.

Having said that, I tried it once and had a lousy experience-I actually ended up canceling it and getting the non-streaming version (called Center Ice) because of bandwidth issue (though I had plenty), so I just say tred softly.

just signed up...

as a Center Ice customer the past 2 yrs...i had enough of their lousy service on Comcast...only 2 HD channels...so i just signed up today as soon as the Apple TV update came out...it's actually $143 if you sign up through the NHL website and pay with DISCOVER!....I feel like it's a million times more useful than Center Ice...I can watch on my ipad, iphone, PC, appletv....anytime!....so far the quality on Apple TV seems pretty darn decent...I'd say not true HD...colors are a little muted...but still WAY better than Standard Def...I was watching on a 42" 720p Panasonic...the update to Appletv today forced my hand! :)

does anyone else experience some performance problems, the stream isn't running completely smooth. On camera movement, when you look on the boards around the ice rink there are very little stutterings.

When i watch the games on the PS3 the streams is absolutely smooth!

So you are saying you are having problems with the quality during a lot of motion?

I was able to watch some highlights of games this morning without a paid subscription and the video playback was fine for me.

MLB TV was $120 this year and last. Given the cost of going to a hockey game (i.e. tickets, parking, food & drink, etc.) $160 seems reasonable if you are an avid hockey fan or live out of market from your team and don't have cable (like me). To me it's a bit expensive, but then again I was fine with the $120 for MLB TV for the same reasons.

I wish they offered to buy individual games. I'd gladly pay $3-4 for games i'd like to see.

Now only if they could get NFL. That would be big.

maybe it stutters if your broadband connection isn't all that great?

I have GamecenterLive but I haven't updated my ATV yet. I watch it on my computers and iPhone and its awesome, well worth the price. Need to wait for untethered JB before I update though :(

Ok, now I am seeing the stuttering that was spoken of earlier. Not a big deal to me, it's not too bad really. My Internet connection is pretty good at 25mbps so I know it's not my connection but something else.

There are several games going right now and I cannot get Col @ Ott or Cgy @ Mtl to play. I click on them and nothing happens. They say live and all the other live games will play. What's going on?

The Red Wings game starts in a few minutes and I hope I can watch it. I just signed up for Center Ice today and I don't want to be disappointed.

I have been waiting for the NHL on my ATV2 :) I haven't noticed any problems thus far, but I have only had it for 15 minutes. I tried to get gamecenter through Comcast last year and it ended up being a big headache. I was getting a little frantic because I am a Calgary fan...the game started....and it kept saying no video for this game....I eventually was able to select the game.

Update: I have had it go back to the main menu a couple of times, but I was able to get back in.

Well, the Red Wings game is playing now, no problems so far. Whew!

Picture looks good too.

I gave in and bought it ... watching the Wings now. It looks good.

I can definitely live with the quality. :)

Me too. I can live with the quality, which isn't too bad really. I notice the stutter only when they pan the camera from one end of the ice to the other quickly. Otherwise it's fine for me.

Not too keen on the $160 price tag though, but what choice do we have if we want our hockey?
