Interesting post, to read about AMD GPUs.

If you have a Hawaii card, I urge you to crank power limits down in the overdrive tab of CCC and see what the resulting clockspeed is under full load. Even in a worst-case scenario, I'm seeing a typical clockspeed of 850MHz with the slider all the way to the left at -50%

That means that Hawaii (the two samples I personally own, at least) can run at 850+MHz on only 145W (half the 290W TDP). As mentioned, that's a worst-case scenario using a power-virus like Furmark. Under real gaming situations (I was messing around with Alien Isolation on 1440p ultra settings) the clocks averaged about 925MHz yet my PC was inaudible; Fans that normally hum along at 55% were barely spinning at 30% during my gameplay.

To support the decision Apple took with the MacPro form factor...

...
You can even connect more than one chassis together to plug in many more cards than you could in a computer with a finite number of expansion slots.
...

Thanks for the PR.

You do realize that Cubix and others offered PCIE chassis to be able to "plug in many more cards" than with TB.

The big difference being that Cubix used 16 or 32 PCIE lanes to do so while TB only gives you 4, 8, or 12 at max if you use all 3 of the TB controllers in nMP.

So best case scenario, you get 3/4 of what you could do with cMP. With the actual losses in TB, it is more like 2/3 or less.

Sorry if I offended you!!
I don't work for Apple, nor was it any kind of excuse attempt.
Just some curious info, that's all.
I understand you somewhat like Apple but also have a grunt.
I guess not everyone can be pleased with everything.
I prefer to see the good side of things and not criticize all the time.
But I do understand that this was a move away for some people's comfort zone.

On another note, again rumors of Samsung taking over AMD. This could be good or bad news, depending on your point of view.
GPU wise I'm not really sure, but it could be not so good...
