If you're watching your $, why get the Black Macbook at a 40% premium over the base white?

It's a kid! for high schoolers black = cool. He wants to be cool. Hence why he's not getting a refurb. Used = uncool. xD Unwise really, a refurb looks as good as a new computer, costs less, and it's usually a safe deal.

Also how do you get thread title 1.1?

And you're going to be a cop??????

Anyways, I'm done messing with you. You said you had tried MacMall, but what about MacConnection? They're usually pretty good in pricing and they have good rebates. Plus, they usually have freebies to go along with your purchase.

Why do you need a Black Macbook for highschool? I do all my highschool work at the library or a friends on purpose so I don't have to have my high hend gaming rig on just to type some garbage on it. You obviously have a computer to type this on, so use it for your school work.

guys I am new to mac so IDK what thread title is. All I was asking is what it is becuase I have used windows for the past 10 years. I like the macs but I just didn't know what thread title is? Is it like microsoft word? Everyone just needs to come down ok. I am new to thread title.

Put down the shovel and stop digging--the hole you're in is deep enough. Please, I nearly blew Diet Pepsi all over my brand-new MBP trying not to laugh and if you keep writing, I might not be able to prevent that from happening again.:p

Ok, I would like a new macbook! I have saved my money to buy something new not used. Just like you don't save your money all summer like I did to buy something used that some1 had b4 me. I just want a new computer thats all! All I said what was thread title? I have never heard of it before. I told you I was new to a mac and you guys didn't have to flame.

wow shut up people....stop making fun of him....however i do enjoy that i am a freshman and have much better grammar...he must be a football playa.

The 'thread title' that everyone is referring to is the title box that you filled in at the start of this thread when you posted your question. You filled in the 'thread title' with "Noooooo".

Nobody here is actually 'flaming' you about that, what they are actually doing is having a bit of fun, at your expense, over you asking about where you could get 'thread title 1.1'. There is no application called 'thread title 1.1', somebody was merely using humor to suggest that you post a thread title that was actually relevant to the content of the thread.

I hope you enjoy your new MB.

Come on man, people are pointing it out to you!

"Thread Title 1.1" = not a software. They were suggesting that you didn't make a very good title for the post, that's all. Its called sarcasm.

oh that thread title! My fault guys I thought it was software! I was thinking serious not sarcasm! LOL. oops yeah you guys are right I thought u guys were serious. well I know next time to change my thread titles! :D

And this will help you avoid that in the future.

Go down to "Minor Problems" and read #3. This will help you avoid our sarcasm next time;)

Ok, fair enough, enjoy your Macbook mate ;).

r u from australia? Just wondering becuase you said mate. I will enjoy my macbook i'm gonna get it with 2GB of ram, a cover, an apple dock, and a free printer. When I get it on monday or wednesday(my parents haven't decided on when we can go down to delaware but its one of these days and only like 45 mins away). I'll be posting my pics of it and maybe unboxing it!

You will find that many mature adults on here have no problem purchasing a "refurb" product from Apple. In many cases it is not "used", however, if it was, you would never know it except possibly the box that it comes in.

The "refurb" in most cases will be more fail-safe/reliable than a brand new computer. Has same warranty and is able to have the extended AppleCare.

If you are sincere about asking all of these questions since you are "new" to the Mac and we give you suggestions, do a little research as to why we are making these recommendations. We are trying to help you (except Thread Title 1.1:rolleyes:).

You would really benefit from considering a refurb especially if you really spent all summer putting your money together. Leave your ego at the door. You don't have to tell your friends that it is a refurb.

I've heard some horrible things about MacMall. You are probably better off buying directly from Apple.

But never tried them, I presume?

I've purchased several machines (home and work) from them over the years. Never had a problem. And to save $100 over Apple prices (plus no sales tax for those not inclined to pay it on their state income tax return), they're very worth it.

Thanks for being a good sport!

I think some people have lost sight of what it can mean to own a Mac for the first time ever - we have become blase in the face of the potentially overwhelming excitement of getting a brand new Apple computer.

Good choice, and enjoy!!

:) :apple:

PS Don't be afraid to ask any more questions on these boards. We're good-humoured, really..

PPS I don't know what you already have nor what budget your Dad has for stuff, but the following is worth looking into:

1. Digital camera that can take pictures and movies. MacBook (MB) is really cool for sharing this with friends and putting it on the Net
2. Speakers that plug into the MB to listen to music at home
3. If you don't have wireless internet at home already, have a look at Airport so you can surf just about anywhere in your home
4. Check out the games available in the Apple Store
5. Important: ask in-store about what you can get to have a backup solution.
6. iWork '08. You get a 30 day trial with MacBook, but you could think about buying this straightaway.

r u from australia?

argh, stereotypes . . . yeah, i live in australia.

^^ I agree with the guy above me xD (too lazy to quote), but instead of iWork, i use NeoOffice...yeah, its quite ugly, but it works well, and in my opinion is better than Pages. I dont use Keynotes too much so i dont really care. Havent had a chance to try Numbers though.

Software:
1) Simple games to reduce your boredom levels (not that youre going to get them that high with your new MB :p).
2) NeoOffice (again), its a great product so deserves a double post (FREE just google it).
3) ShapShifter: Though Aqua is quite pretty, i enjoy playing around the look of my system once and again (Shareware) my current desktop:
desktopsu5.jpg

4) Adium: MSN, YAHOO, ICQ, Jabber, AIM, only IM client you'll ever need. FREE (http://www.adiumx.com/)
5) VLC best video player for MAC OS X, or Windows... (google it, its free)
6) Browser: Now, some people like Safari, other use Firefox, *I* use Camino its good, google it if interested.
7) Don't know if you'll ever use it but I still like it: QuickSilver (google it...)
8) Transmission for your torrents needs... *wink*
9) Wit & Sarkastika (google it, awesome feature for your CPU)

ok well I think it will be better to get a black macbook now then when I go to college my parents said they'll get me the macbook pro! For right now I'm gonna stick with the macbook(first mac) and get a nice cover and wi-fi printer for my room then in october get an external screen, applecare and money for my macbook. Thanks guys

APPLEFAN,

Good luck and enjoy your entry into the world of Macintosh & MAC OS X.

Suggestion, to eliminate the perception of being a newbie & being born last night, why don't you remove the "Getting a Black MB this monday! No MBP anymore(soldout closeout model). I will get it for 1400 though in Delaware and tax free! Can't wait!" from your signature and maybe just list your hardware in a discreet manner.

Something like this:

MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
15.4-inch widescreen display
2GB memory
120GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB of GDDR3 memory
Built-in iSight Camera (Don't need this, we all know they come with iSight)

thanks sblasi I'll do that when my mom gets off our only comp in the house which will change next week when I get my macbook. But right now i'm posting from my ps3 online. I'll do that when she gets off! thanks

Are you really a junior at HS? ...

Good luck with your Black Macbook!!!, which youre going to buy next week on Delaware, because the closeout model of the MBP was soldout at your local Apple Store (i think). You are getting it for 1400 and your dad is going to drive you to Delaware to get it Tax Free. BTW, your Dad is a cop, so youre getting a government discount (if im not mistaken). And you can't wait (Neither can I).

yes?

BTW you also have a PS3 which you're using to post this thoughtful and wise posts. Im assuming your PS3 is black, am I correct?
